American Bald Eagle teaching his eaglet (pics)

On the way home from the bank today I spotted a bald eagle in the field when we turned down our road. So I ran home and got my camera...started off and found out it had no batteries. Found some, and ran back down to the end of the road...so 5 mins later I made it back, and now there were 2!

I think if it was nighttime, she would have spotted them earlier.

We get sandhill cranes here, almost year round. A few hundred here now, has been into the 1000's at times.

They are loud birds but neat to watch.

I wonder if eagles find sandhill cranes to be tasty.

ayne468 02-09-2007 07:08 PM

They are beautiful birds:)

tony286 02-09-2007 07:16 PM

I heard they might be taken off the endangered specs list ,which could be very bad for them.

woj 02-09-2007 07:17 PM

pretty cool :thumbsup

FreakinWebmaster 02-09-2007 07:20 PM

I don't think it would. They are still protected in other ways so they should be fine.

i see a business opportunity there, package holidays from the middle east to the USA with the promise of shooting the symbol of the US gov. anyone?

They are meant to be taken off the list this year - they are nesting on some prime real estate and it cant be built on while they are protected.

I was glad it was still there :) The nest is right above the road, so hopefully I can get better ones sometime.
