If they got it from a 3rd party they are fucked, No signed release from either of the participants is a big no no these days.

According to Vivid, the tape came with documents. Their attorney viewed the documents and gave the ok for the deal. This is gonna get interesting -

My theory is that she did sign a release but is only "going through the motions" of suing so that it will make her look "morally upstanding", but she's probably secretly getting paid and loving the attention. This is her ticket out of being Paris' sidekick, now she can make a name for herself. That's what I would do.

I am guessing most of those Hollywood hipsters would be thrilled at being all over Hollywood Access and the E Channel. It's just making them more "A-list", or higher on the hollywood food chain, even though its a sex tape.

Publicity is better than no publicity.

This could be for publicity for the whole thing. But if they got it from a 3rd party that forged the papers they are fucked. I'm sure they wouldn't release it without the proper info though. Nobody could be that dumb.

didn't Paris Hilton go through the same things when her tape came out? all the while she signed off on the whole deal...

there are PR steps that are in place for the next 2-3 months, you are just seeing the first step

I think Kim is smart and she will use this sex tape to become famous just like Paris. She's a stylist and owns a clothing boutique, now she can use her notoriety to design her own fashion line or something.

Of course every celeb has to pretend to be upset if their sex tape is out. Didn't Pam Anderson also pretend she was upset and hired lawyers etc but she ended up profiting from those videos??

Same thing with Paris and the Rick Solomon tape. In her hacked sidekick notes it said "Check from rick", I'm sure it had to do with her getting a check from the profits of the tape.

If Kim doesn't "hire lawyers" she might alienate some of her female fans, (believe it or not she has female fans) who will think she's ho'ish, but now this way she gets to keep her fans and make new ones. It's a win-win situation.

Vivid is a multi million dollar co and they always seem to play it safe, even in terms of their material, it's never too hardcore. I don't think they would ever release anything without the proper docs.

This tape is worthless without drama, so they are creating it. They have to have IDs and releases on all persons involved or this thing cant be released...I aint buying the hype BS it was stolen we will sue BS

She knew VIVID bought the tape, she has to sue to save face. I'm sure she gets a cut on the backend. You don't pay 1 mil for something without having everything in order.

Here's my take:

Look at history. The Pamela Anderson / Tommy Lee tape was huge in it's day. Part of what made it huge and kept it huge for so long was well timed visits to the courts to fight about stuff. Everytime Pammy went to court, sales went up. Every time sales would start to drop off and searches would slow down, a new motion would be filed and back to court they would go.

It worked because when you are dealing with a mainstream star, you get mainstream coverage. There is no advertising in the world like having CNN, NBC, CBS, ABC, and Fox news spewing your crap for you for free. From the tabloids on the newstands to Entertainment tonight, it was everywhere, every time.

You want to make big money with a celeb tape? You have to have the celeb involved and signed on, and that celeb has to protest, be upset, file meaningless lawsuits, and otherwise have regularly scheduled hissy fits to keep the product in the public eye.

Will it work with this girl? I am not so sure. At the least the quality of the video is better than average.
