I saw a dead woman today
 

As aggressive drives go, I am one of the worst....

I was running late this morning and I was swerving through traffic and cutting people off......As usual.

The traffic started to bunch up and I saw flashing lights. "Fucking idiot drivers! Why can't anyone drive properly?" I though to my self

3 lanes were blocked an mine was the only one getting through, and I was still trying to block people from getting into my lane.

I don't like to be a rubbernecker so I tried to focus on getting by. Well, I got blocked off by a Fire Truck and had to sit there for a few minutes. At this point I was right beside the accident and I could see there were at least 4 cars involved. 1 being a huge gravel or salt truck. The accord took the worst of it. It was crumpled up like an accordion. I could see the steering wheel was broken right off....Presumably from someone's head hitting it.

About 20 feet from me I saw a bunch of EMS workers crowded around one of the wounded. Then, one by one, the look on their faces went to dismay :Oh crap Three of them got up and turned away silently, and the fourth put a blanket over her head.

This isn't the first time I've seen a dead person, nor will it be the last, but it really puts things in perspective. Especially when we focus energy on the things that we really shouldn't get worked up about, because it could be all over for us or someone we really care about.....in an instant........:(

That is probably what she was doing. Take your time. I read somewhere speeding is the number 1 cause of accidents. I think when you speed like that you get where you're going maybe 5 minutes faster.:helpme

Needless to say, I took it easy the rest of the way to work.

I saw a woman in the middle of the highway once. She had been thrown from her SUV. It had tumbled a number of times and was upsidedown on the shoulder. I wasn't 100% sure, but she didn't appear to be breathing. I've seen plenty of dead people before, but this one bothered me. She probably had just dropped her kids off at school.

A couple of weeks back, some old dude walked out of the Ace Hardware store right down the road from where I live at and once he got out to his car in the parking lot, he shot himself in the head with a handgun. That was some crazy shit. Although, I didn't actually see it myself...one of my good friends did. That's how I found out about it. Fucking crazy shit...

It's crazy how many accidents you see on the way to work. When I was commuting a little bit father to work I probably saw two accidents a day in bumper to bumper traffic along a 80 km stretch of highway. I don't get it really. I'm not saying that I haven't been distracted a time or two while driving, but you see ppl all the time doing their makeup or shaving, hell I've even seen ppl reading the paper or a magazine. When are North American drivers going to learn how to control their vehicles and be responsible behind the wheel?

On another note...I used to work with a guy who's wife was driving drunk probably about 20 years ago and she entered a highway on the off ramp, drove on the wrong side of the highway and eventually killed a family. How fucked is that?

I have a old guy who was crossing the road after missreading the crossing signal, hit got hit by a car and died on the road, while I was in high school

I've seen a kid who had drowned in a flooded river on an island in the philippines after slipping on a foot bridge, I was only a kid at the time too

And I have also seen my little sisters ex-boyfriend, who died in a car crash with 2 other young kids, the driver and the front passenger got out and were fine, accept for all the guilt. and that happened around 3yrs ago now.

We all know this story well. You see someone speeding and dodging through traffic only to be in front of you at the next red light instead of behind you.

You mentioned a truck ... a semi is 13'6" tall, 75' long, and weighs about 35,000 pounds empty up to 80,000 pounds loaded. It'll pretty much kill whatever it touches. It takes them longer to stop, more room to turn, and they have HUGE blind spots down the sides. Please remember that when you're sharing a chunk of road with them.

Unfortunately, it's people like you that cause those types of accidents. Remember, you are not going to be able to make it to work if you are dead, or perhaps if you are the one that's killed someone. Take your time and don't drive like an ass!
