Help me pick a new vehicle [PICS]

So here's what I already have.
Jag XKR
http://www.inthecrack.com/posts/cars/Jag.jpg

Now I need a another vehicle that does everything a Jag XKR wont do. Top priorities... It has to be able to carry all my camera and lighting equipment for trips (7 large cases) and be good for winter driving. Here's the choices.

Cadillac Escalade: Expensive but nice.
http://www.inthecrack.com/posts/cars/2007-Escalade.jpg

Land Rover LR3: Quality vehicle but I'm not sold on the styling.

http://www.inthecrack.com/posts/cars/land-rover-lr3.jpg

Ford Expedition: Tons of space.
http://www.inthecrack.com/posts/cars...pedition 5.jpg

BMW X5: Top quality, awesome to drive, but a little too small.

http://www.inthecrack.com/posts/cars/BMW-X5-017.jpg

Toyota FJ Cruiser: Cheap and cool but very basic.

Hummer H2: Way cool. Bad on gas.

Dodge Nitro: Cheap and basic. Can't decide if it looks good or ugly.
http://www.inthecrack.com/posts/cars...ont34speed.jpg

Mercedes benz R class: Surprisingly as much space with the seats down as a Hummer. Not sold on the styling.

out of THOSE choices I'd say the Ford Expedition

edit: can you hit me on icq real quick

Spunky 02-08-2007 08:48 PM

I like the land rover..sweet looking jag

Peaches 02-08-2007 08:49 PM

I looked at the L3, a Mercedes M series, the Jeep GC and was driving an Explorer at the time. From what I understand, Ford is going to stop making the Expedition so that could be a problem. The MB M drove like a car and I'm used to an SUV. I saw too many articles about troubles with the L3 and the closest dealership is 60+ miles away.

I ended up with the Jeep GC with the Hemi and I really enjoy driving it. It has all the bells and whistles and I think 2007s have even more than the 2006s.

However, I have a neighbor with the Toyota and he LOVES it :) I have a Wrangler and that's my playtoy, but if I didn't have it, the Toyota would be a fun 2nd car.

The Hummers I've never liked for some reason.

donkevlar 02-08-2007 08:50 PM

H2's are wack, they're like H1's for girls.

I'd go with the BMW or the rover.

Rui 02-08-2007 08:53 PM

Was going to vote in the LR but that model is a dog, so that leaves the X5 :)

Peaches 02-08-2007 08:54 PM

Oh, I didn't mean Ford was going to stop making the Expedition - it was the Excursion. Sorry 'bout that :(

I drove a friend's Expy and really it didn't have THAT much more room than my Explorer. The engine was a little weak for the size too, IMO.

Lykos 02-08-2007 08:55 PM

Cadillac Escalade definitly!

Peaches 02-08-2007 08:55 PM

Another nice SUV that I've driven a lot is the GX470.

Supz 02-08-2007 09:13 PM

cadi truck all day

MandyBlake 02-08-2007 09:20 PM

I think that Benz is sleek and classy. That would be my pick of the bunch.:thumbsup

abyss_al 02-09-2007 03:27 PM

escalade - nice interior, outside looks weak now
Land Rover LR3 - weak.. if you're gonna get one, get a range
Ford Expedition - shit. horrible roll and it's a ford.
BMW X5 - good car, but you can't take it out in the mud and climg..
Toyota FJ Cruiser - good car, but too small
Hummer H2 - great car.. have one myself.. takes all the abuse i throw at it... only bad side is you're gonna get 9-10 mpg
Dodge Nitro - bad roll and too small
Mercedes benz R class - station wagon lifted hehe.. junk.

it all depends what you want to do with it... any of those will carry your equipment... you also have a huge price difference between your choices... from 19k-60k... so you need to figure out how important this car is and what you want to pay... bmw x5 is your best bet imo

I don't like them - looks like a sedan mated with a minivan.

RSS 02-09-2007 03:56 PM

Mercedes R class does nto fit this row. Get Cadillac Escalade or Hummer H2

96ukssob 02-09-2007 03:57 PM

I wouldnt get teh mbenz r, i personally dont like the way it looks.

I would either go with the X5 or M series. i looked at the LR3 and didnt like it.

emthree 02-09-2007 04:03 PM

I'd get the Escalade since the X5 is not big enough for your needs.

MsWild 02-10-2007 09:13 AM

Great looking cars...cool ride :thumbsup

Project-Shadow 02-10-2007 09:30 AM

I'd go for the Ford. Has the style and space.

DirtyProfits 02-10-2007 09:44 AM

SUV's suck! Get yourself a Toyota Prius!

teenytricia 02-10-2007 09:48 AM

cranki 02-10-2007 10:03 AM

BAKO 02-10-2007 10:56 AM

Mercedes benz R class has a good leasing program, $1500 down $348 a month :)

Fap 02-10-2007 01:26 PM

Dude are you guys crazy? Cadillac Escalades SUCK, horrible drive the outside looks decent the inside is nothing special.

Dude i have an 2007 Audi A6 and i HIGHLY reccomend it. My brother has a BMW 6 series, also reccoment that over the jag.

96ukssob 02-10-2007 01:27 PM

You should check out the Audi Q7 that is one nice looking ride.

Grapesoda 02-10-2007 01:30 PM

the caddy and the ford have the most room, depends on the luxury you want to be honest . . the other rides won't haul all the gear to well, especially if ya wanna take a babe or 2 with ya . . the hummers don't have that much room either . . -bmb

Navistar International 7300 CXT

Ok I think you should look at the audi didnt make it on your list. Also saab will be coming out with AWD wagons that have room and balls in the next year if you can wait.

tehHinjew 02-10-2007 02:27 PM

LOL its like a rollercoster with price ranges

PenetratinP 02-10-2007 04:32 PM

the expedition is a workhorse...with plenty of room for your photo gear.

Musson 02-10-2007 05:23 PM

I would advise to choose Mercedes benz R class. Though you should deside wheather it is the matter of prestige or functionality.

mattz 02-10-2007 05:28 PM

stop trying to show off lol, typical gfy user

Why drive anything else but a caddy.

I know the guy to build your new truck. Start dreaming of your wish list.

We're not exactly talking about Lamborghinis and Rolls Royce here. Just mid range vehicles that get the job done.

BTW I've eliminated the BMW and Cadillac from contention, ironically the 2 cars leading the poll. The BMW is just too small to carry my gear. The Cadillac is too expensive for what you get.
