Has anyone had Mead?
 

I brew my own beer (and yes it's fucking good) and have always wanted to try to make some Mead. Has anyone had it? I have a feeling that it's gonna hit the market soon because a lot of micro breweries have been fucking around with it for the last couple years.

For those who don't know what Mead is, it's a wine like drink made from Honey. You can also add fruit and spices, but true Mead is from just honey. Dwarves drink it a lot.

Anyone tasted it? Is it good? Or one of those "acquired" tastes?

It IS an acquired taste and it's not that easy to make well.

instead of experimenting in your bathtub you should come over and have some real beer :winkwink:

ya, I know it ain't easy. Is there anything you can compare it to? Did you have the straight up Honey Mead, or was it Melomel (fruit added), Metheglin (herbs/spices added) or Pyment (grapes added)?

Was it "get drunk" worthy, or just something like a desert wine?

My beer is gooooood. All glass fermentation, 2 stage, I use fresh hops, all grain. Even have a Freezer set up for Lagering with a digital temperature regulator.

But, if you're offering beer, and put some of your models in the mix, I'll leave right now.

ps. do you go to Oktoberfest? I wanna go.

It was made in a stone outbuilding by my grandad. Could have added goat shit for all I know.

I drank it til I was 17 when I moved to the states. If it's good it will knock you on your ass.

and i was thinking to join the oktoberfest gathering that takes place right after the amsterdam webmaster access. actually - as a german - i've never been to oktoberfest. sad but true

I asked for it all over Denmark and Sweden with no luck.

Well, if I successfully make some, maybe I will send you a bottle.
