This has been tried/discussed like 1000 times at least...
It's just not going to work.... :(

Similiar things have been done in the past, and are being done now... it is never trully successful because of the chance to cheat.

Webmaster1 (Publicly) "so and so is a scammer". (Privately to Webmaster2) "I need you to confirm that so and so is a scammer".
Webmaster2 (Publicly) "it's true, they scammed me too".

Politics...

Perhaps I should have said Reputation List ... not really a Black or White List.

You'll get a Reputation Rating like on Product Reviews scale 1-5. Even if someone has it out for you... they won't be able to get you Totally Blacklisted.

Positive or negative comments would stay with a persons Profile (rather then getting lost in forum archives)


Also, It will have advantages that Previous lists may not have had...

Such as:
- Profiles: ones that stick... Not Easy to Fake or get Duplicates
-- Domain Association with Profiles
-- IP Associations
-- Country/Region Associations along with the IP Association


*Advanced tracking: Few webmasters will be smart enough to defeat ALL tracking measures.


I relized this after seeing a thread posted by Fris about MySpaceHottie, clips4Saletgp. It's just 1 example... but shows that Definitive Connections can be made.

It was also easy for me to detect numerous people on my system (http://www.thunder-ball.net/). using multiple profiles.

The Main Thing is the PROFILE.... it will stick with you no matter what.

Your domains will be attached to your profile... making it very difficult to switch to a new profile and take your domains with you if your a scammer.

decent idea, but like someone mentioned earlier, it has been done already...
even if you do profiles, it's not exactly hard to scam someone, and then create a new profile and scam another person, and so on...

Yes, but similar to your Post Count here on GFY... you would be less trusting of a New Profile that has basically Zero Reputation.

Additionally, I would build a References List or Friends List (the same thing as a mySpace friends list).

If someone pulls up to you on a Profile with Zero or low friends... it would look basically the same as a Noob posting here with a post count of 10.

Here on GFY... chances are... your going to take someone with a high post count more seriously then a Noob with a post count of 10.

These are some of the same strategies used by Google
- Domain Age = Profile Age
- Domain Reputation = Profile Reputation: Positive or Negative Comments
- References (from other domains) = Profile Friends/Associations

* Things that are Very Difficult to Repeat as a Scam/SPAM artist


I think most people here are already doing this - but just keeping track in their heads.

Another Factor can be a 1:1 opinion rating.

People will only be able to Rate you in a Single Instance. They would have 1 opinion of you which they can change if necessary.

This is different then forums where people can jump into a thread and post numerous and conflicting things. It's not a forum at all - so ya have to disconnect from the forum way of doing things.

As it is right now... when a scammer Posts a thread... people have to jump into the thread and call the scammer out... and discredit the scammer and the thread.

On a Profile System... You have 1 profile and that's it. It either looks good or bad...

Ya that's EXACTLY where I'm going with this... You build your PROFILE reputation and protect it.

A scammer would have to constantly start over with a new Profile - Assuming he/she is skilled enough to get past the Multiple Profile Detection Measures.

When you are in doubt about someone... Just do a quick search on this Centralized-LIST and you will see how long they have been around and what kind of reputation they have.

It could save you hours of chasing shit around in the forums.

Actulay I wouldn't even bother with post count/reg date. I'm 04 reg and low posts here but 02 & more posts on another board, so that means jack to me mate. :upsidedow

That would only be one attribute of a Profile. True enough though... I have been around since about 2005 but never ran my mouth much here (or anywhere else for that matter).

Regardless of that... the peopel that do know me... would not hesitate to put me on their Friends/Associates List.

I'm sure if I asked around about you at your other forums... you would have a reputation there yes?

Registration Date is only 1 attribute.

The Profle will focus more on

1. Friends/Associates
2. Domains

Great idea.
