Antares is the 15th brightest star in the sky.

It is more than 1000 light years away.

... so , how significant should we really be feeling, right about now? :upsidedow

Given the number of stars out there.... the chances are there's life out there. It may not take the form we're accustomed to... but it's there.

NickDavis 02-08-2007 02:52 AM

Antares is about 600 light years away... that's about
3,527,099,888,511,900 miles

3.5 quadrillion miles...

and you can still see it with the naked eye on earth... bet you that sumbitch it hot!

We are fucking cunty small, damn!

Scootermuze 02-08-2007 05:21 AM

They aimed the hubblescope at a black area in space and left the shutter open, as it were, then when the exposure came back there were over 2000 galaxies in 1 frame... so yes, we are but a fraction of a speck in the grand scheme of things..

he-fox 02-08-2007 05:29 AM

my balls are bigger than Antares

That means it might be a dead star. Go from this to mirco atoms and 6X space levels and your brain breaks.
