Am I Paranoid?
 

Here are some of the things I do in my daily life:

• I shred and then burn all of my unwanted incoming mail. Anything that has my name or address on it, no exceptions, in the fire place. I stir the ashes each morning before lighting a new fire.
• I have Caller ID, and do not answer any unknown or blocked numbers. Ever.
• I mail all of my mail from a post office, I never leave anything in the box with the flag up for collection.
• I no longer have a checking account. I use cash as much as possible (yes, through the mail too) and when that wont work I buy a money order.
• I make everyone I buy stuff from on eBay ship it to a drop.
• I no longer have a supermarket discount card.

What's wrong with a supermarket discount card?

Aside from the printed spam? They keep careful records of everything you purchase, how often you purchase it, etc, etc. The FBI recently went after these databases and sought to use them to aid in the building of profiles of terrorists based on the frequent purchase or lack of it of certain ethnic foods.

I admit to a few things like the shredding of everything and the caller ID stuff as the blocked or anonymous are always solicitors

Yeah, I think you're certifiable, but that's just me. Interesting about the shopping/club cards though...that one has come up many times.

I couldn't find the article about the soccer mom who was investigated for buying too many baggies (did read about it last year though), but here's a guy that was arrested for arson based on his Safeway Club Card purchases: http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/htm..._arson06m.html. (Long article, but he was innocent)

I look at it this way. If they profiled my Club Card they'd wonder why an alcoholic cat owner who never buys any food would possibly need so much toilet paper. :helpme
