I posted this in a different thread but I'll include it here as well:

Ok, let me give you my take on all of this.

The two gay rights organizations that protested, the HRC and GLAAD, are both organizations that I donate to financially every year.

HRC works more on the political/legal side to help homosexuals gain legal rights and protections.

GLAAD is basically the PR firm for homosexuals, seeking to have us portrayed in a positive way, and appearing on talkshows and media interviews about homosexual issues.

PERSONALLY I thought the snickers ad was funny. I thought it demonstrated the ridiculousness of homophobia, and made a couple of redneck breeders look like fucktards.

That being said, I understand where GLAAD and HRC are coming from. The truth of the matter is, you do not see gays being portrayed in a positive light on a regular basis in mainstream advertising, so if the only time the public is exposed to images of "homosexuals" or ("homosexual conduct" in this case), is in a semi-derogatory manner, I could see how that might perpetuate an antigay stigma.

But like I said before, PERSONALLY I thought it was funnay.

gay bashing? wtf

it was fucking funny

i like this one too https://youtube.com/watch?v=dDoZu4aBD1M&NR :thumbsup

I can't imagine that anyone could watch that commercial and think any differently about a gay person than they did before they saw it. From what I understand, M&M Mars did some research with study groups before the commercial aired and got nothing but positive reviews....everyone thought it was funny. I agree with DamageX, some people need to get a fucking life and lighten the fuck up.

Sarah_Jayne 02-07-2007 05:27 PM

i still vote for just plain lame

Spunky 02-07-2007 05:31 PM

They were a little to hasty..I thought it was funny

tical 02-07-2007 05:31 PM

So basically, homosexuals want equality with conditions?

I don't get this, if gays want to be treated equal... why bitch about shit like this and keep the perpetual hate machine rolling?

Homosexualism isn't "mainstream" and thats why its portrayed in ways that get the "mainstream's" attention. Whether it be semi-derogatory or not... is that not fair? You can get picked on just like "rednecks", nerds, fat people, minorities, etc...

Jeez, next there will be some shit about Will & Grace bitching about how they made whatever his name overly flamboyant because its a gay stereotype...

Lighten up my god... I figure if you guys can take one up the ass you should be able to take a little comical jab once in a while too

btw that wasnt meant for you BA i read your response... just for any other closet homos reading this thread :)

Not every commercial that played that day was a good commercial for everybody. But even the worst commercial in your eyes was a great commercial for someone else.

I can totally respect someone saying the commercial was lame but I cannot respect a bunch of drama queens who want to wage a war against a candy maker because they thought this commercial was "gay bashing" when it clearly was produced to be funny!
