Is there high speed internet in CUba?
 

I want to go there for a week to get away from the cold.


Anyone been able to work no problm from there?

I also wonder if the Cuban government monitors internet use. I'll bet they do.

I doubt it, its severely filtered if there is.

yes, there is high speed internet at the post offices. $4.50 an hour. But porn is VERY ILLEGAL in Cuba, and you WILL go to jail if they catch you with porn in your computer.
There is no wireless internet, and no, you can not access it thru your cell phone.

In your hotel room (only in 4 and 5 star hotels) there is internet access.
I do not know if it is monitored by the government, but it wouldn't surprise me. After all, they monitor everything else, so why not?

Good luck with that. They are not allowing cell phones in Cuba anymore. Your travel agent will advise you to leave your cell phone at home.

As for the internet, it's a mega slow connection and you won't get it from your hotel, most likely will have to go to the internet lounge where it takes forEVER to get online and as mentioned earlier, it is severly filtered and monitored.

I was able to check stats here and there and that was about it.

If you're going to go to Cuba just consider yourself "un-plugged" for awhile.
