any free alternatives that don't fucking pick and choose which freaking files it wants to upload and then shut down in the middle of it?

I have good luck with smart ftp :)

I used to use cuteftp, or there is leapftp, although I dont think those are free.

SmartFTP is a very nice looking program but I also have issues with it not sending every file. I still use an ancient free version of WSFTP for many uploads.

I use FTP Commander, the interface is old, but it's free and damned reliable.

FTP Surfer is a small, free FTP. No big frills, but it usually does the job.

leapftp for me, nice and simple.

I use filezilla
