Why not Biden?

I don't think I have seen his name mentioned here once. Why is that?

A better choice than Clinton or Obama.

Sly 02-05-2007 09:36 PM

Every time I see his name I think of bin Laden.

mikeyddddd 02-05-2007 09:37 PM

He misspeaks almost as often as Dubya. None of the three you mentioned are electable.

stickyfingerz 02-05-2007 09:37 PM

If Dems had a brain they would run Liberman. Id even really think about voting for him.

LiveDose 02-05-2007 10:03 PM

Biden? LOL

Jesus christ.

Daruma 02-05-2007 10:07 PM

He's still hurting after his integrity got OWNED when it was revealed (by a Dukakis staffer) that he lifted some text for a key speech from Labor's Neil Kinnock. Probably thought "Meh.... no one follows Brit politics in America... might as well ass rape Old Neil.

Bad, but not as bad as the stuff the Clinton's have done over the years.

Dubya just bumbles his words, Biden offends an entire demographic.

That's purely subjective. Ultimately, it's his and his handlers' call. It does take a lot of HUBRIS to get on the moral high ground when you're basically an Intellectual Property thief. Akin to MLK (it is documented that he lifted a lot of his doctoral thesis materials).

Well, he said Obama was clean, and people took it the wrong way.

Like leaving office with a budget surplus and a booming economy, getting NAFTA (negotiated by Bush I) ratified, the Brady Bill signed and the highest end-of-term approval rating of any President since Eisenhower?

I'd consider voting for Republican Mike Huckabee if he dropped his support of creationism and he could explain how he would not increase govenment spending like he did in Arkansas.

He said a bit more than clean :upsidedow

"I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy,"

I knew what he meant but I can see how some would have been offended.

I'd have no problem voting for him.

notabook 02-05-2007 10:51 PM

I want Bill Richardson. :(

"Clean" is what he says got him in trouble.

I find it interesting how American politics (I'm in the Netherlands--so Im just curious about American politics) has so many "third rails" that hitting any of these "hot" topics the wrong way might get someone in hot water--religion, race, gender, etc.

What the hell ever happened to a frank and free public discourse?

The US, unlike other countries is made up of people from all over the world. Therefore there are many more hot buttons to hit accidentally and people are sensitive about different things. It makes sense actually and it is kind of what makes American politics interesting.

What is no big deal to one person of one race or culture is a very big deal to someone else with a different background.

It's one big melting pot baby!

Right... but how can you have an E Pluribus Unum (Out of many, comes one) when you're too busy trying to avoid hurting other groups' feelings? Is there like a 'base line' everyone can agree on?

I like him personally.

The problem with him is that he lied about being being drafted by major league baseball and it was alleged that he leaked the name of the scientist charged in an espionage scandal while he was Secretary of Energy ala Valerie Plame leading to Scooter Libby's trial. But at least the scientist was being charged with a crime while Plame worked for us.

You can't have a serious Biden discussion without getting all his quotables out on the table. The king of misspeak is known for some other choice passages.

"Delaware, [Biden] noted, was a “slave state that fought beside the North. That’s only because we couldn’t figure out how to get to the South. There were a couple of states in the way.”"

“You can’t go into a 7-11 or a Dunkin Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent. I’m not joking!”

Honesty is rarely the best policy.
