Finally! - Kastle Archives affiliate program

Just a quick message to mention that we've finally launched a new affiliate program for Scrunt's Male BDSM Erotica (a Kastle Archives site).

50/50 of gross sales and recurring - handled through Verotel

I know there were quite a few of ya's interested in promoting our stuff, so here's your chance to be the first outta the blocks. Our original male bondage/fetish photography has been among the most success converting content in the male genre for the past 7 years - there's nothing quite like it on the market.

To sign up, go to http://www.scruntsmalebdsm.com/ and follow the links to 'Webmasters' page (or go direct http://www.scruntsmalebdsm.com/affiliate.html).

We'll get more promotional content (galleries, banners and zipfiles) put together very shortly. For now affiliates can make use of the content under 'samples' on the site.

Despite having reg'd our first domain in '99 - we've only recently taken over the reigns and are now handling all aspects of operations ourselves.

I'm first and foremost a photographer and illustrator...webmastering is somewhat new shoes, although I'm no total stranger to it.

Any constructive criticism to add to your earlier observation?

studiocritic 02-05-2007 09:51 PM

i thought you were a meter maid?

Deej 02-05-2007 09:53 PM

Nice SK, good to see you. I for one miss your shots n stuff.

sorry, after posting that i realized it might have been sort of rude.

:1orglaugh

Better to be an upstanding pornographer...than a bylaw enforcement officer, aye...

Bylaw is still my 9-ta-5 gig. But with the recent re-acquisition of our websites...I'm burnin' some midnight oil these days.

Never a dull moment.

1) Remove the links to other sponsors from http://www.scruntsmalebdsm.com/main.htm

2) 1996 called and it wants the design back...seriously its 2007 .. it can look a little better

3) First page sucks and is very disorienting... should have some kind of pictures to attract the surfer. Webmaster button should go way lower and be smaller. (Webmaster button should not be the biggest button on the page)

4) Preview page has to be more appealing with bigger thumbnails and better spacing... possible constricted tables.

5) Home should not take u to the warning page

6) Better description sales text for your products.... good for SEO ...

7) Great that you are going to make money with AEBN but thats just ripping your affiliates traffic...make money of other sponsors from upsells from inside members area

8) I always admired your photo skillz...but ur pretty shitty at this web stuff....so hire a consultant for piece of the pie or cash to get your great photos noticed and many subsribers joining...

this is what I did for a great nyc photographer.... notice how the site is about his photos and not some other bs (this site was done more then 4 years ago)
http://www.borisvyatkin.com/ ( broadband version)

Like i said before I would not waste my time telling u this unless I thought there was good potential with your work..

What about women bondage whitch is a much wider niche? I really liked your photos that you did with those babes?

BOSS1 02-07-2007 12:57 AM

Boss1 - much obliged for all the helpful input. I'll go over all your suggestions and perhaps consider some changes.

In the past we had very little hands-on involvement with the site itself other than creating the content and some promotion. We left much of it to the webhosting service. Our recent decision to drop his hosting and take control ourselves was somewhat abrupt, so we've had to scramble to make a LOT of changes in a very short time. We're still playing ketchup at this point.

Appreciate your time and effort to look the site over and offer advice. :)

re: traffic leaks

Just make a page w/out them for affiliates to send traffic through. You can then continue to send your own traffic to what you have up.

re: design

It's not flashy, but I promote another BDSM site that looks very much like it design-wise, and it sells just fine. Content is the kicker, and your content rocks. :)

That isn't to say that BOSS1 doesn't have some valid suggestions. :) But I don't think that your site needs some major overhaul. Tweaking it would be fine for starters, imho.

czarina 02-07-2007 09:23 AM

Congrats on launching your program, but OUCH! How do you get guys to pose for the pictures?

Likewise, thanks for the valued input Selena.

Personally I'm not a fan of slick, flashy-style sites...they tend to leave me disillusioned at times with a lot of hype and razzle-dazzle. Like you, I regard content as king. I also tend to think its good to keep the site easy to navigate and uncluttered with too much eye-candy. Subscribers have often told us they appreciate the comparative simplicity of the site and ease of navigation.

Sure, we could jazz it up and make it look just like the other cookie-cutters out there - but whether it'd translate to additional sales or interest...I can't say for sure.

Perhaps, idealistically...there's a middle-ground somewhere.

The female bondage is an entirely separate site - Kastle Archives.

We run a total of four - a paysite for each gender...and two free sites.

Agree to content is king but u need for them to see it.... your site is decent to navigate but the eyes are drawn to webmasters button instead of ur content

I only wish we could.

Our soon-to-be-former webhosting guy locked us out of the ftp and put up that message (until the last subscription runs out end of Feb.)

Part and parcel as to why he's about to be "former webhost". He got a little confused over who actually owns the sites...as opposed to who merely handles the hosting.

Yeah, he attempted to throw us a curve ball - but we anticipated something similiar happening before making the decision to drop his hosting, so its no big surprise...and isn't hurting us financially.

We regarded it all as a vindictive temper tantrum due to him losing his 'golden goose' long-term clients (7 years).

Such is life. He'll be history very soon.

Keep bringing biz to the board!

Been rather hectic - workin' two jobs...and doin' some major home renovations for the last while. New roof, furnace, AC...and rebuilt the backyard deck - all before the snows hit.

No rest for the wicked :(
