My thoughts on .XXX
The sky is not falling whether its approved or not... The DOJ under Bush has already stated they don't support it, so who's going to enforce not having adult content on dot coms, nets, or other? ICANN?? not likely they don't have the manpower or resources to police the content on every domain. Visa has no position on it either.
This is just another chapter in the adult industry of "the sky is falling", Which for us that have been around for a few years know that every 2years or so something happens that people claim is the end of the adult internet as we know it, but I doubt seriously it is... I personally think xxx is a bad idea and don't support it, but not going to pack up and run to hills if it passes either... I'm guessing it will be business as usual either way... :pimp |
good insight. no one is taking the "sky is falling" mentality. why gamble with your future potentially when you can take action and thwart it? this industry is categorically filled with fence sitters. watch, one day something is going to slap us upside the face for the reasons that make us weak, mainly unity.
oh well, at least everyone will know where my heart is. ;) thanks for not supporting it Wizzy!! :) |
A law will be passed to give registrars power to disable any .com domains with visible adult content. Then, THEN the sky will fall.

By taking an active approach and fighting .xxx now, you're eliminating such risk in advance. |
Has no one thought what would happen if .xxx was passed and made adult only really?
No one has thought about how many million .com names would not be renewed? Would that lose REALLY be even close to covered by the buying of .xxx names? Why would people using .coms for porn renew them if they could no longer use them for what they intended? Is someone going to scoop up fuckmeinthepooper.com if they are unable to post adult images on there? How many people with huge domain collections would buy anywhere near an equal number of .xxx domains? To me this is a total chicken little, but we'll see what happens. I dont support it either of course. |

But all you would have to do is buy a .xxx and meta re-direct from your dot coms... So that there is no adult content on your dot com, yet you can still benefit from the only extention that really matters.... :winkwink: |
