Thoughts on the film "Blood Diamond"

Saw Blood Diamond last night. My thoughts:

Leo did quite well with the South African accent.

Honsou is a great actor, has real presence.

Hope everyone is boycotting conflict diamonds!

Good film if you haven't seen it yet, I would reccomend it. :thumbsup Seeing the children executing people is quite harrowing though! :Oh crap

Think I saw a thing about this on Tv a while ago. Looked quite good. Not seen it though....

I enjoyed the movie. Almost no laughs though... almost 100% a serious movie (which is various rare these days). It tries to teach a decent message but conflict stones are relatively in low # these days (1% or so ?) so chances of buying one are relatively low. Least you’ll be able to use this movie as an excuse to jew your way out of having to buy a new ring for your wife or gf… or mistress. ;)

i love that movie, but i did had to get used to the accessend. but i didn't knew in the begin that he was from there so i was by my self what the fuck is wrong with that guy. But excellent movie.

Definitely a good excuse not to get a ring! :winkwink: The missus watched with me, so she has to understand!

You don't know how much money is being paid for diamonds not in circulation though. 2 million pounds for an uncut diamond that was simply taken off the market and stored in a vault....:Oh crap

I haven't seen it yet but hope we can see it soon.

he-fox 02-05-2007 06:32 AM

It was a good movie and I´m glad they are raising the awareness on Africa. Too many poor people there.

donkevlar 02-05-2007 06:35 AM

Very good movie, and yes, Leo did a pretty good job with the accent...

Did it make anyone not ever want to buy diamonds?

CyberHustler 02-05-2007 06:37 AM

I liked it... wouldn't watch it again though.

"long sleeve or short sleeve" lol

YES it does, but trying to time it when I am actually around is difficult:winkwink:

Catalyst 02-05-2007 06:50 AM

i loved the movie..

DaddyHalbucks 02-05-2007 06:52 AM

I imagine verification of diamond origins is practically very difficult.

People should focus on honest government and human rights. That's how you eliminate blood diamonds.

Good luck with that! It's worth seeing.

Sammy4u 02-05-2007 07:48 AM

Just saw it yesterday. Very good movie. I had to cover up my tennis bracelet on the way out of the theater.

That's the problem as they get verified in other countries.... :disgust

Most of the aid work in Africa is not run effectively from all accounts either!

nico-t 02-05-2007 07:51 AM

Wasn't bad... though I think at one point he sounded more like a jamaican.. but for the most part he sounded authentic.

Very good movie though with a great ending :thumbsup

I saw it right after it came out and was very impressed. Must admit, went into it with very little interest in actually seeing the movie...just happened to be coming on at the right time...but was pleasantly surprised. Great acting, good story for the most part...the love story seemed a little forced...but it was a good movie. The accent thing threw me off :) I couldn't for the life of me figure out where he was supposed to be from...but once I realized, I thought he did a great job with it :)

4Man 02-05-2007 11:12 AM

Good one.....

Fap 02-05-2007 11:35 AM

Im seeing it tomorrow with some friends, hope it is as good as y'all say

WebairGerard 02-05-2007 11:46 AM

looking forward to seeing this movie

ProjectNaked 02-05-2007 12:11 PM

One of the best movies I've ever watched, top 10 all time :thumbsup

CaptainHowdy 02-05-2007 12:15 PM

Can't wait to see it...

Sarah_Jayne 02-05-2007 12:22 PM

Good film that could have been great. It needed to keep its path at the end but lost it with the overly sappy phone call (not spoiling further) that let the rest of the film down.

that was my only complaint I guess, should have ended it after the phone call and leave the rest to your imagination.

Sarah_Jayne 02-05-2007 12:26 PM

no..I just meant there shouldn't have been a phonecall or a romantic thing at all. She should have been somebody they ran into and then nothing more.

ajrocks 02-05-2007 01:43 PM

I thought is was really great.

Sexsitesurfer 02-06-2007 02:37 AM

I thought it might have been good to follow the kid's life a bit more too, like in the Killing Fields. Send home the message more about what is happening to the people caught up in the mess!

Sounds about right. :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

But it is still better that the film gets made 7 years on than the issue is completely ignored in popular media....

Aussie Rebel 02-06-2007 02:58 AM

Great movie, I might even watch it again right now
