When I first came on this board yesterday all the big boys said hello. Then I got some Hecklers so I'm just tring to figure out this board.

Who are the guys with something legit?

Who are the hecklers?

and who are the Newbies?

You raise a point that I've actually argued here before, with limited success I might add. That point was/is that people seem to be judged and rated based on the number of posts they have here and the amount of time they've been a member, which to my way of thinking is, well.... stupid. Roger, you are a prime PRIME example of why that practise is stupid. You have what, 22 posts or so, and a bunch of people automatically assume you are a know-nothing newbie. At the same time, a few so-called "big timers" recognize you and jump to your defense. But what if no one knew you? Is it possible for someone to run successful sites, make a pile of bling, and yet be pretty much unknown?

Yet those same big timers (Rat, Kboy et al) have themselves in the past called people newbies for having only a few posts here. Double standard, yes. Pretty ridiculous, very much so. Hilariously ironic? Oh man, my sides are aching.

Bottom line to all is: don't judge people by the # of posts they have. Someone may be new to this board, but it doesn't mean they are a newbie to the industry. If lucky Larry Flynt registered today and posted his first post, you guy's 'd call him a newbie? Stop it, you're killing me.

Roger -- if you want to part with some traffic, I'll gladly part with some of mine.

Amen to that... This is an ongoing problem in all the boards. It amazes me how people are judged as being a Newbie. I have known and worked with RogerV since 1998 hardly a newbie who runs a very successful program. Even more Ironic, is the fact that many webmasters probably promote his program and don't even know this is the guy that is making them all their money.

Industry changes all the time..

But one thing remains:
who is newbie and who is not and the ever-continuing discussion about newbieness.

Exactly. Not to mention, I've seen newbies on some boards pile up 2000 posts in 2 or 3 months. They're still newbies, but apparently they have a lot to say. Then there are a few giant industry leaders that only have a few hundred posts and have been members since nearly day one. Are they considered newbies because of their low post count?

I love the way this word "newbie" is tossed around so freely. It's insane. Insane I tell you. It's as overused as the term "soulmate." :glugglug

Exxxotica 08-01-2002 07:24 PM

you are all jackass's.... who cares!!!

kmanrox 08-01-2002 07:24 PM

post count has nothing to do with being a newbie...

roger is far from a newbie, and he has what? 35 posts?

fantasyman has what? 50? RB 0 ? serge 130 ?

Half the people that post on a regular basis here, with lots of posts, probably cant even name what companys those names are associated with;).The other half have NO IDEA who the real movers and shakers of this industry are....which begs the question regarding whose posts look doppier a NEWBIE or a NO Nothing!
