iTunes may not work on Vista!

According to a notice posted on Apple's Web site, compatibility problems include the inability to play music or video purchased from the online iTunes store, difficulties synchronizing contacts and calendars and possible failures of iPods plugged into a Vista computer. Apple also outlined precautionary steps users could take to try to minimize any problems should they upgrade to Vista now.

Apple is full of shit. They posted a link on their site of someone who wrote an article saying Vista is pretty but its not as good as OSX.

iTunes is a rubbish product anyway. Bloody bloatware.

Hopefully they'll get that sorted out before the iPhone somes out...

Quick Buck 02-03-2007 06:40 PM

nice way to keep people from upgrading to vista but switching to mac's instead :)

FUD works!

Pleasurepays 02-03-2007 06:41 PM

it wouldn't even be legal for Microsoft to make their operating system incompatible with IPOD.

but kudos for following standard message board operating protocol...
1) skim article/headline
2) assume
3) react

I heard upgrading to Vista will give your IPOD a virus and your grandmother cancer.

PGR 02-03-2007 06:49 PM

We will stick with XP. We fear change.

King of Queens 02-03-2007 06:54 PM

You hit the nail on the head. I've seen iTunes take down whole (albeit lower powered) systems

Um.... Microsoft OWNS a good share of Apple. So any b.s. about a planned incompatability would not make much sense.

This is very unclear - Apple did sell them $150m of nonvoting stock back in 2003, which was converted by MS for a healthy profit in 2005. It's not clear how much MS now owns, but it's far from a 'good' share.

Do your homework chief.

From Apple's 2003 SEC filing:

"In August 1997, the Company and Microsoft Corporation (Microsoft) entered into patent cross license and technology agreements. In addition, Microsoft purchased 150,000 shares of Apple Series A nonvoting convertible preferred stock ("preferred stock") for $150 million. These shares were convertible by Microsoft after August 5, 2000, into shares of the Company's common stock at a conversion price of $8.25 per share. During 2000, 74,250 shares of preferred stock were converted to 9 million shares of the Company's common stock. During 2001, the remaining 75,750 preferred shares were converted into 9.2 million shares of the Company's common stock."

Apple is fucking gay.

I received a few emails from them, telling me I should buy a Mac and not upgrade to Vista.

Now they come up with this iTunes bullshit.
iTunes is a piece of shit software that barely works with xp.

And iPod is shit too. Can't even easily add music from a second computer.

iTunes works on vista.... for me anyways.

aico 02-07-2007 05:55 PM

The SKY IS FALLING!!!!

They didn't say not to buy Vista, they said to not upgrade to it until they fix the compatibility issue, because your iPod may not sync correctly, where it will if you stay with XP until it has been fixed. But if you did upgrade already, they give you ways to make it work as best as possible, again, until the fixes have been made.

So glad I don't use PC's for much

Jace 02-07-2007 06:09 PM
