Will Youtube go the way of MP3.com?
You guys remember MP3.com? Back when it actually posted links to copyrighted materials? Remember how it changed from that model to being a "springboard" for new talent? Notice the crash in traffic/revenue until it got bought out?
Looks like things are beginning to go the same way for Youtube.com (except for the bought out part...they already got bought out by Google). See: http://www.nydailynews.com/business/...p-416356c.html Apparently, Viacom is in talks with other copyright holders/content producers to start their own youtube-like network. |
thats fucked
i never realized how many tv programs viacom owned......fucking wow.... |
viacom sucks ass :(

I just read another article about this. I'm struck by how backwards the whole thing sounds: Youtube can't negotiate a mutually acceptable amount to pay for the use of stolen content, so they're "forced" to pull it. Instead of whinging about Viacom losing the "benefit" of being on YouTube, shouldn't they should be thankful that they haven't been sued to hell and back for blatant copyright infringement? :) It's only a matter of time before there's a BIG case and youtube starts to collapse in on itself.
