It's really beautiful... but not in a 'brokeback mountain scenery' way. Highly recommend it.

Bods4Mods 02-03-2007 12:26 AM

Hey Hal

The wife and i saw it last weekend and loved it. The beast at the table whos eyes rested in his hand was so cool. All around amazing movie. Also has some Oscar nominations as well:thumbsup

Aquarius 02-03-2007 12:26 AM

Yes, I watched it when it opened in Mexico. Great film by a Mexican director.

Nysus 02-03-2007 12:27 AM

I wasn't expecting the gruesome graphic scenes, but it definitely created character development.. man, flinching just thinking about the Captain.

Yeah my wife fealt the same way about him. To me that realism only added to how good the overall movie was.

uno 02-03-2007 12:38 AM

Is this a new movie? I've heard it mentioned, but have no idea when it came out.

Doctor Dre 02-03-2007 12:40 AM

I have it on my computer somewhere... didn't listen to it yet

well deserved, I think.

And, yeah, that beastie was AWESOME.

Far-L 02-05-2007 02:51 PM

Loved that movie. Sat in my head for days afterwards.

Mexico is really the bastion of great cinema these days when you get right down to it...

I totally agree. There were a few very violent (but necessary) parts that made me cringe.

Terrific film. :thumbsup

Far-L 02-05-2007 03:42 PM

much more like REAL fairy tales and not the wimped out disneyfied crap we are spoon fed in this culture.

Just read the Grimm's versions of Cinderella and Hansel and Gretal to know what I am talking about.

chodadog 02-05-2007 04:23 PM

Certainly not what you expect from a fairytale. Captain Vidal was one of the coldest characters I've ever seen. You only need to take a look at his face during the bottling scene to see what I'm talking about. Really great movie, I thought.

Totally. What I loved about "Pan's" was that the villains and Demons were in OUR world. :)

Fairies are banned in Russia for subliminally spreading homosexuality amongst heterosexual movie goers.

Young 02-05-2007 05:26 PM

Prior to going I read the one single negative review on RottenTomatoes.com.

The guy called the movie too complex for children, and too simple of a fairly tale for adults...I think he completely missed the point.

The movie was great. I came across the DVD Screener and its currently sitting on my computer. I chose to go pay the $10 and watch the movie. I'll see it again in the comfort of my own home very soon.

born2blog 02-05-2007 05:45 PM

KustomKowgurl 02-05-2007 05:48 PM

Hmmm...I was on the fence as to whether I wanted to see this one or not...but after reading all those positive comments...I think yall have pushed me over to the "Must See" side :)
