If you own .com's/.net's ..bend down and grab your ankles! PRICE HIKE!

The annual price of a .com or .net domain name will almost certainly rise this year, according to Stratton Sclavos, chief executive of VeriSign Inc, which runs the two namespaces.

Fuck me, even a small increase is going to HURT for large domain portfolio owners! :(

Nookster 02-02-2007 07:23 PM

Logic dictates that prices should go south, but greed doesn't. What exactly are we going to get for the price increase anyways? More security, new infrastructure ..what? It's nothing but a money grab IMHO, ..a license to legally print money.

Damn I see people clipping part of their portfolio.

I wonder how much the increase will be.

Guess we better add some years to our
portfolio now to pay the current prices.

A rise of 7% on $6 means the wholesale price of a .com cannot rise to more than $6.42 per domain this year. For .net, the price could go up 10% from $4.25 to $4.67 per domain per year.

Spunky 02-02-2007 09:02 PM

I think I can afford the increase

Yes, at 7% that's roughly $.46 cents for me, so that works out to be around $1,641.50 extra per year.

Then 7% the next year, and so forth.. It could get expensive.

illeana 02-02-2007 10:39 PM

it sucks

Cost of doing business.

Renew them now for 5 or 10 years.

pornguy 02-02-2007 10:45 PM

That is such bullshit.

DaddyHalbucks 02-02-2007 10:52 PM

Fuck VeriSign, fuck Stratton Sclavos, and especially fuck ICANN.

ICANN is supposed to be looking out for the public interest, and they are aren't doing their job.

:mad
