yeah, no shit.

besides, you probably wouldn't like a painfully slow death, where cancer eats away at your body from the inside outwards.

Amputate Your Head 08-01-2002 01:49 AM

Okay hyper.... I knew this was coming....
I've been saving this for this day.
Remember, in your moments of weakness and desperation,

Personal power is a quality few understand.
It has little to do with physical strength or technical proficiency.
It is quite simply, the force that results from freeing yourself from the fear of failure. No matter what the consequences.

We all go through life making decisions by weighing the potential outcomes of our actions. But too often, people decide on a course of action based not on what they can achieve, but on what fearful outcome they can avoid. As a result, individuals or circumstances that threaten these people with things they fear have power over them.

Achieving personal power means finding the courage to drive ahead no matter what your opponent threatens. Whether the challenge be conflict with an employer, a legal confrontation, or personal combat, when you divorce yourself from any fear of consequences, your adversary (in your case, addiction) no longer holds any power over you.

Man's greatest fear is death. But think of the power you have when you throw off any fear of dying. How threatening would the loss of a girlfriend, a job, or even financial ruin seem today if you knew you were going to die tomorrow. If you can kick that fear, then all the other calamities in life become trivial.

Why settle for anything imperfect or frivolous today when you are going to die tomorrow. Carve flaws out of your life. A man who knows he will die tomorrow doesn't have time to waste on them.

The Master says, "I will not be concerned at men's not knowing me, I will be concerned at my own lack of ability."

Be strong. Stand tall. http://www.opticalamplitude.com/assets/rockon.gif

hahmike 08-01-2002 01:53 AM

or maybe your kids, if you do have them or will have them in the future, won't like to see a father that they have loved unquestionabley since birth... a person that they love more than ANYTHING, the person that took care of them when they were ill, made them laugh and giggle when they were small, comforted them when upset and put a roof over their heads for 18+ years... wasting away, weak, shriveled and pathetic in some cold hospital bed because he couldn't quit his drug habbit. :(

stay off that shit. go suck your thumb, a candy bar, a lemon, a dick... anything but a cancer stick.

good luck bro :2 cents: :)

jojojo 08-01-2002 02:05 AM

When you are around 3-4 years old you realize that you will die someday - and thus you develop "death anxiety".

So Amp, what is the best way to overcome this fear of death so you can move on?

I saw a move once called "Ghost Dog" about some dude who is obsessed with being a "Samaurai" and in this movie and according to Samuarai culture when you wake up each morning the first thing you are supposed to do is visualize yourself dying that day in many ways - then once you have accepted this you have no more fears or something to that effect - never tried it.

Had to add this to:

"I will not fear. Fear is the mind killer. I will allow my fear to pass through me and when it is gone, all that will remain will be I"

I love that mantra. I'm sure most of you know where it's from ;-)

I quit a few months back...went out fishing last night & smoked 2 with some people we met out at the peir.

Woke up this morning & don't want one now.

Anything in moderation is ok. If you smoke one ciggarette a day for the rest of your life it won't kill you.
