Funny Story
 

A city boy, Kenny, moved to the country and bought a donkey
from an old farmer for $100.00. The farmer agreed to delivered the donkey the next day.

The next day the farmer drove up and said, "Sorry son, but I have
some bad news, the donkey died."

Kenny replied, "Well then, just give me my money back."

The farmer said, "Can't do that. I went and spent it already."

Kenny said, "OK then, just unload the donkey."

The farmer asked, "What ya gonna do with him?"

Kenny, "I'm going to raffle him off."

Farmer, " You can't raffle off a dead donkey!"

Kenny, "Sure I can. Watch me. I just won't tell anybody he is
dead."

A month later the farmer met up with Kenny and asked, "What happened with that dead donkey?"

Kenny, "I raffled him off. I sold 500 tickets at two dollars a
piece and made a profit of $998.00."

Farmer, "Didn't anyone complain?"

Kenny, " Just the guy who won. So I gave him his two dollars back."

Kenny eventually became the chairman of Enron.

this story bothering to me as all say is funny but I am not understanding joke. I am thinking I am dumb Latvian country man, and this is Amerikan humor. But I also trade farm animals and story seems strange, so I study Enron.

If TASS is to be trusted, Enron go out of business as they have funny numbers in book keepers. They are lie about profits, no?

This story showing Kenny is doing same when young boy? he is saying he make profit of USD 998$ but I am seeing profits of USD 898$

My cousin is in university at Kiev and helping me to figure these numbers.

Kenny is paying USD 100$ - he is selling 500 tickets at USD 2$ this is being USD 1.000$ less USD 100$ meaning USD 900$ profit.
If he is returning USD 2$ to one man this is being USD 898$ profit.

I am thinking he is saying stories to man with donkey, or my farm is losing many profits.

is someone that can tell me why he is saying USD 998$ profit but his story shows USD 898$ I will love to understand Amerikan humor
