Sounds pretty fair to me.

Hardware specs and price are not the only thing to be taken into consideration when deciding whether a deal is good or not. Quality of support and quality of bandwidth should also be added to the equation.

McSpike 02-01-2007 03:43 PM

BW is excellent. Support is not top notch, but is somewhat ok.

McSpike 02-01-2007 03:45 PM

I wanted to say: support is not the level of phat servers, lol.

But BW is the level of phat servers support :)

Redmanthatcould 02-01-2007 03:45 PM

I wanna see some 150g raptors RAID'd in there :)

McSpike 02-01-2007 03:46 PM

So you'd take it, if I you were me? All I wanna know.

kaori 02-01-2007 04:41 PM

well, I'm paying $150 for 3mbit on an old p4-2.0ghz with a 60gb hd...
but that's with a high quality host..
seems like a pretty decent deal to me!

baddog 02-01-2007 04:46 PM

sounds fair

For most of my servers, I need more bandwidth than I need raw power, so with the bandwidth it comes with, it's not appropriate for me. I do have some servers with only 10Mbps or so, that actually use less than 1Mbps, but they're the exception, not the rule.

I also need fully managed or semi-managed server, and I didn't notice if this was or not.

So, if you're crunching DB's, not pushing data, it seems reasonable for a managed server of those specs, if a BIT high ... but I'm spoiled with volume pricing, maybe.

McSpike 02-01-2007 05:28 PM

ya DBs are getting abused, no static stuff on the server.

so by looking at everyones' statements this is an ok deal then.

ok then... :)

you can do better than that: at SwiftCo its only $75 for 4mbit, 2.8 ghz, 80gb hd and have way better bandwidth and providers: level 3, internap etc etc
