Ebay question on reserve price..

Let's say I see an item with no bids and starting price of $1.
I put in my max bid of $30. The "price" then shows as $1.
The auction ends with no other bidders.
The reserve price turns out to be $20.

Does ebay raise my bid to meet the reserve so I can buy the item at $20 or does the seller not have to sell it?

if auction didn't meet reserve the person does not have to sell it even if you were the high bidder. Your max bid is your max bid.

I know that, but if I bid $30 in the above case then I bid enough to meet the reserve. The problem is, the price is still $1. since no one else bid on the item.

No offense, but dose anyone who actually read what I posted know the answer.

Usually, the software bumps your bid up to the reserve price if you've bid more then it. I haven't used ebay much in awhile, but that's how it always was when I did.

It'll automaticly go up to $20 when it ends if noone else bids
