Your attention is required
In the best interest of your children, future generations and even your own, you should take a little bit of time to watch some movies. Not just any movies, but at least a couple which, in my opinion, should be mandatory viewing in all schools.
First off, I highly recommend watching "An Inconvenient Truth". It presents facts about global warming that I'm fairly sure many have either not been aware of, or at least ignored for a long time. While it portrays the USA as one of the biggest polluters, you should still watch it and act even if you live elsewhere. Remember, by raising the bar and the average of what's acceptable, you're also forcing the bottom raters improve. So aside from watching it, make sure you also tell your friends to watch it and do whatever they can to raise awareness and help us preserve what we have. Second, if you think you're living in a free society, you should definitely see "America: Freedom to Fascism". Yes, it's mainly about the US, its economy and its government. But since the US is so important, on a global scale, non-Americans should watch this as well and try to spread awareness. And before someone tries to call me anti-American, I would like to state that I am PRO-American. I am pro-freedom, I am pro-privacy and pro-civil rights. All those things that have been getting more and more eroded lately. :winkwink: Third, there's a couple of feature films I would recommend you to watch, which aren't documentaries but nevertheless quite enjoyable. If you have watched my previous recommendations, you'll also be able to make some connections between all these films. :winkwink: So see "Idiocracy" and have a few laughs. Then see "V for Vendetta". While certainly extreme in their fictional presentation of our possible future, you'd still have to admit to them having some plausible, and scary, elements of truth in them. Enjoy the show and don't forget to tell your friends! |
Hmmm. Loony.

Are you people that fucking narrow-minded? DamageX isn't even trying to portray the US as the devil itself, or anything. What's with the tinfoil hat pics etc? See he films and then just think for a second before making up your mind..
You honestly think there's nothing wrong with society, both in the USA and other western countries? Pollution, global warming, privacy issues etc..nothing concerns you? Not agreeing to Kyoto treaty is all fine with you? You wouldn't have problems with cameras all around (like in london)? Phonetapping, internet censorship etc? Nothing like this is even remotely a possibility, or doesn't concern you? All is fine because you're told so? Big SUV's are cooler than hybrid cars. Money is what matters. The USA is the best place in the world, regardless how 'best' is measured? Europeans seem to be more aware of the surrounding world, no offense to you enlightened north-americans. Then again, nobody's perfect and there's plenty of wrong with Europe, and I believe that's what DamageX ment..and you immediately took it as anti-america conspiracytheorist bullshit. I personally think Finland is a piece of shit socialist country, but it's I've weighted pros and cons, and I'm not moving out of here (even if my immigration papers to canada are almost finished, gotta have options ;)). |

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070201/...nge_hurricanes Title "Global Warming linked to stronger hurricanes" You dont read till the bottom of the article that... "But U.S. National Hurricane Center scientist Christopher Landsea has long disagreed with that premise. While he would not comment on the IPCC decision, Landsea pointed to the meteorological organization's statement last fall." Global warming nuts predicted there would be massive hurricanes this past summer. How many did we have? When questioned about why we didnt have them they came back with "Its hard to predict storms 1 year in advance" Yet these looney fruit fagcups have the gull to act like they can predict from global warming from only having a little over 100 years of information. Major massengills :disgust |
Global warming doesn't happen overnight. :2 cents:
I personally am not a conspiracynut, but I try to see both sides of the coin, and as I've followed your america-related posts monsieur stickyfingerz, it's rather obvious you don't even try to see the other side. But it's ok, a society tightly controlled by the government can work just fine. Look at Singapore for example. |
if you like conspiracy movies, check out Fahrenheit 9/11 in Plane Sight.
But also, maybe read A Brave New World or 1984 too if you are interested in what our world or N.A. at least will look like if the US continues to go down the path that they are on currently. Or if you don't want to read or watch TV maybe take a look at WWII Germany or Italy as a potential example. Is democracy not supposed to be by the people for the people? |

Now, since I'm obviously "pushing conspiracy theory, government control, we're all going to die films", the question to you would be: What if I'm right? :winkwink: Nowhere in this thread did I say I am right and everyone else is wrong. I posted my opinion and made some recommendations to people based on it. Of course, since it's such a free society we live in, I immediately got attacked and labeled a conspiracy theorist. Which is YOUR RIGHT to do. The only question is FOR HOW MUCH LONGER? I may be wrong or I may be right. The point is if I'm wrong, it's only me looking like an idiot, a risk I took fully aware of it. But if I'm right, then looking like an idiot on a board called GoFuckYourself would probably be a very minor concern of mine. |
Idiocracy is really funny :)
