Be carefull when using it. Better try it first on a not-so-important machine :)

4Man 01-31-2007 01:38 PM

I'm going to say this for 100 times.........I hate those new systems...

lorine 01-31-2007 03:37 PM

I don't think that there is a major difference between vista and the old xp,except for the interface/graphics so I`m not sure that vista is better than xp.

toddy1999 01-31-2007 03:42 PM

hmm.don't know if I should install it right now or wait a few months for the sp2 or maybe even sp3.when I think twice, this xp does its job just fine

Try it and feel yourself assfucked for the money you paid to buy this "treasure box" :thumbsup

Thanks, intersting reading this one exactly" This always happens with Microsoft, it happende with 98 as well. Their OSs start with quite a few glitches but they are eventually ironed out through updates. They should spend longer on glitch finding before they release it." - it's true no shit!!!! :)

Im so glad I get to hear the same opinions about Vista and how stupid, evil, sucky, shitty, crappy, and fucked up it is every other fucking thread. 90% of which have not even seen it run. Sheesh.

I was trying it for a few days (it was beta) and all that new shiny graphics shit made me bored. Plus problems with the old software and lack of drivers, cpu overloading etc. Sorry but it's just a pile of shit. The operating system is intended for one thing only: to let you run your applications. Vista doesn't let the run better than XP, it makes them work worse. Read this (course if you are not afraid to read such a big text :winkwink: ): http://www.cs.auckland.ac.nz/~pgut00...ista_cost.html

Have a good reading, and be sure to come back later for comments :)

So you are blaming your shitty computer on a beta copy of Vista which only included the most general drivers.... :uhoh I ran the beta and had really no problems other than a few programs needed some updates in order to be compatible with the new OS. In other words thats the software makers slowness.

I've been using it since December. Legit copy through MS business account. I believe all business' had access to it in December so no I am not special...

neither is Vista...

What really urked me about the software is that it sucked up 75% of my free memory and just held on to it...doing absolutely nothing with it except for reserving it. Besides that for anyone that has been using OS X nothing really impresses you. The search is like spotlight....gadgets don't compare to the dashboard and widgets, the iphoto knockoff is just that... a knock off.

Vista is great for XP users but a real yawn for anyone who has used OS X for more then a few hours.

Just pointing out the obvious. Nothing awesome or innovative about Vista. I gave it a fair shot. The 3D task switcher is kind of cool...though I think expose is a better implementation.

Why is it shitty? It was a PC with very usual configuration: AMD64 3500+, 1Gb RAM, GeForce 6800, 0.5Tb HDD - not an outstanding one, but even not very weak.

Seems you just run it to enjoy the new graphics, but it don't seem like you are doing some serious work on it (e.g. video encoding)

BTW, did you read this: http://www.cs.auckland.ac.nz/~pgut00...ista_cost.html - you you consider it too difficult to overcome? :winkwink: Any comments? None? Hmm.. :1orglaugh

No worries, the great guys in Redmond will have it figured out by Service Pack 6.

Long live Windows 2000 Server Edition...one of the greatest OS's ever.

I used an older beta. Im going to get the full version shortly and start testing it out on a dual boot setup.

just a punk 01-31-2007 04:50 PM

stickyfingerz, are you gonna pay for disabling of functionality, indirect disabling of functionality, decreased playback quality, elimination of open-source hardware support, elimination of unified drivers, denial-of-service via driver/device revocation, decreased system reliability, increased hardware costs, increased cost due to requirement to license unnecessary third-party IP, unnecessary CPU resource consumption and unnecessary device resource consumption?

Are you masochist?

I installed it on a desktop that I rarely use. Still looking for network and sound drivers for my creative card. Creative says they aren't making them lol and it isn't even that old of a card. Other then that I'm liking it so far.
