Dentists are all about upsell. Last time I went in for a cleaning, I got suckered into applying for credit. Once they approved me they quickly maxed out my new account with all kinds of things I probably didn't need.

my brothers was at the dentist today.. they gave him a +2000$ bill for pulling some wisdom tooths and other stuff. :(

Oh man I would probably cry if I tried to detail all the bad dental experiences I have had. I went to a dentist recently that was so completely opposite of all the shitheads I've dealt with before that I almost cried just thanking him for being so thorough and professional in his approach.

(Maybe I'm just PMS'ing). HAHA.

The dentists I've seen have only recommended things I know I need done. They are waaay expensive though. But I want to keep my teeth in later years so guess it's worth it. :)

I just finished 3 years of dental work. I went in for Invisaligns, got a quote and paid for them. Suddenly, I had to have the dental planing done. WTF?

600 bucks a quadrant. Anyone else had it done? Waterboarding has nothing on that. I asked around and NOT ONE EMPLOYEE in the dentists office ever had it done. I must have had "sucker" on my forehead. After that I had to have all my silver fillings replaced. Cleanings every six weeks at 180 a pop!

I've had so many appointments, teeth shavings, scalings, molds, new molds, blah blah blah...

The upsell is worse than anything I've ever seen.

My teeth have always been strong and nice. I only had a little crowding starting to happen so my invisaligns were taking care of that. I'm way over 10,000 in extras that were 'necessary'.

When my kids go in for cleanings, they upsell on everything from new rotations xrays ($200 plus) just to see how those wisdom teeth are doing,
30 dollar toothpaste...etc...

When you decline, they give you the 'you don't want what's best for your child?' sell. It sucks.

I spended 2$ on dentis this year and nothing on last.IF you wanna effective and cheap dentis,come to Croatia.British people already massively come here only for this.

Is that what's up with the British? They go to Croatia for their dental work?

My dentist is great and not a crook by any means... but he's booked 6 months in advance and has 2 other dentists working for him fulltime. (they are all 6 months in advance).

That's what offering a great service can do to your business.

Indeed they are. Some of these bottomfeeding crooks will actually not fix a smaller problem until it develops into a root canal so they can charge a higher amount, ignore cleanings, cavities etc. They need to be locked up. There's no greater crime than messing with people's health and well being for profit.

My wife works for a dental office now and it's her job to do the upsells. Man I have some storeis I could tell you. It's a biz like any other... and a profitable one at that!

yea, they are probably worse than used car dealers... you go in to get a filling and come out with a $500 bill, and bunch of appointments to get stuff done in the future...
