too serious to joke about??
 

I was reading this list of "ice breaker" type questions to get to know someone, and one of the questions was "What is something that you consider too serious to be joked about?"

It seems like people joke about almost everything these days.
Is there anything far too serious?
Cancer maybe?

Be careful about most diseases, because they're bound to know someone who has something... Things like diabetes and STDs and epilepsy are very very common.

Dead babies are a no-no also. Feel out the racist jokes, cause while they can be the funniest jokes out there, some people get really pissed.

My nephew was playing with his spongebob talking book last night, and he touched the stingray with the stylus and i had to mention it... :P

Some people don't think you can go too far; like the SOuth Park guys, who parodied Irwin right after he died. Also, remember there are 9/11 jokes and there were a ton of space shuttle jokes after the crash with that teacher in '86.

it takes 22 and a half years before it becomes funny

I remember there was a skit that George Carlin did about this very thing and one of the topics he mentioned was rape, you can't joke about rape. Sure you can, picture Elmer Fudd raping Porky Pig :)

politics and religion are "no-no"s to talk about in any conversation where you dont know someone or are trying to get to know them. Never discuss it at a dinner table with guests

Yea, like they thought part of the black astronaut washed ashore but it was just an old radiator hose ... tasteless

i would say anything that involved killing people.... like holocaust etc...

I immediately thought of the same thing when I started reading this thread.

You have to be careful with jokes on religion...they can be sooooooo funny, but some people would never talk to you again!:Oh crap :1orglaugh

If they dont like you, and they dont like your jokes, fuck them. Someone else that can do the same that they do, will like them.

i'd say you can joke about anything, but if you are concerned about what people will get upset about, its something completely different.

but again, everything can be joked about, its all about how the joke is made/delivered.

Sound advice here... I love the "feel out the racist jokes" part.
It's pretty amazing that some people lack the common sense to know some of that though.
