I just installed Windows Vista and..

... it sucks major ass! :321GFY Got a Microsoft Intelimouse Explorer 2.0 and guess what?! There isnt any driver available! Its the most uncompleted OS i ever saw. Feels like Win98 with better visuals.. :Oh crap

xenilk 01-30-2007 09:52 AM

Why did you buy it? I don't see the need for a new OS as of now. Wait for Vista SP2! :D

fuzzylogic 01-30-2007 09:58 AM

i have been using vista since november and i am loving it!

the stablity and protection if offers is excellent

bobby666 01-30-2007 10:02 AM

welcome to the club of non paid beta testers

tranza 01-30-2007 10:06 AM

I'll wait at least a couple of years before buying Vista.

MaDalton 01-30-2007 10:07 AM

i have 10 licenses and will not use them even if my life depends on it

Vendzilla 01-30-2007 10:13 AM

I'll wait till the first batch of patches comes out

Mr. Romance 01-30-2007 10:16 AM

Sorry to hear that, but thanks for the heads up

Mr. Romance

Azoy? 01-30-2007 10:17 AM

i always wait a few month till they get all the bugs out.
watch there will be a security issue within the next few days that patches will be released for.
once they get all the kickes out of it after a few month i will install that current version at that time.
until them i am very happy with XP SP2.
very stable and reliable and it kicks that apple crap in the ass.

starpimps 01-30-2007 10:18 AM

im waiting 6 months so all the drivers and stuff come out
the last thing i need is for my stuff not to work

Sosa 01-30-2007 10:22 AM

I plan on installing it on a desktop at home that I don't use for much, and then test applications that I use on a daily basis to see what works and what doesn't.

teg0 01-30-2007 10:23 AM

Vista = Welcome to the world of Digital Rights Management.

Also nobody running XP really has any reason to upgrade at this point.

Rankings 01-30-2007 10:23 AM

im a batch kind of guy as well

RawAlex 01-30-2007 10:25 AM

Umm, intellipoint driver vista acompatible, right on the microsoft website:

Yep, that's correct!

Going to install Windows Vista? Read this first: http://www.cs.auckland.ac.nz/~pgut00...ista_cost.html

Say you've just bought Pink Floyd's “The Dark Side of the Moon”, released as a Super Audio CD (SACD) in its 30th anniversary edition in 2003, and you want to play it under Vista. Since the S/PDIF link to your amplifier/speakers is regarded as insecure for playing the SA content, Vista disables it, and you end up hearing a performance by Marcel Marceau instead of Pink Floyd.
:warning :warning :warning

FightThisPatent 01-30-2007 10:34 AM

for those playing with vista.. can you play with the parental control function.

create a profile for a child setting.. and looking to see what the default settings are.. like blocks everything (ie porn), etc.

screenshots would be appreciated since i don't plan on upgrading to vista

Fight the upgrades!

Vista

I wouldn't recommend Vista for now. It is very new so there aren't many drivers for it at the moment. The best solution is to wait 4-5 months until all the major producers will launch compatible drivers for Windows Vista.

Himuro 01-30-2007 10:37 AM

I am happy with XP, no need for Vista

When they come out with the one AFTER Vista, then I will give vista a try. Unless I buy a new machine.

Yeah but those are 3.0 products. Tried them and they dont work with my 2.0 :disgust

RawAlex 01-30-2007 11:17 AM

Well, according to the website, that is the correct driver for 2.0 and vista.

stev0 01-30-2007 12:13 PM

It's funny, when XP first came out everyone was saying "i'll stick with win98se, its the same thing but faster".

You'll all be running vista soon enough...

TheSenator 01-30-2007 12:15 PM

Not until http://www.alienware.com has workstations with Vista.

It's lame to compare XP and Win98 because Win9x/Me is a big trouble but not a real 32-bit OS at all. On the other hand, XP and Vista are successors of Windows NT (NT3,4/Win2K). So XP has a shitload of advantages over Win98 but it almost the same as Win2K. The same is VISTA. Actually it has a same core as WinXP.

4Man 01-30-2007 12:34 PM

Well i don't like those new versions, because they are just a mask of previus one...

Personally I remember the DOS 5 times very well. I wasn't using Win'98 because it was just a pile of shit, but I was happy with NT 4 and Win2K. When I moved to XP, I haven't noticed any advantages over Win2K... I'd still be happy using Win2K but it's not supported my m$ anymore...

Martin 01-30-2007 12:37 PM

I dont see any reason for me to update, XP is doing just fine right now.

madawgz 01-30-2007 12:40 PM

im not installing that shit for another year or 3

Some of microsoft products dont
work on 'The New Vista' :1orglaugh

I want be down grading to Vista.

Pimpin_J 01-30-2007 01:16 PM

Ok so i finally got it to work somehow. Sometimes when i install an application like ICQ 5.1 for example, the install aborts and tells me theres a problem between the OS and the software. So i restart the machine and guess what? - its installed! That happends on nearly every software i tried to install on vista yet. The new vista desktop is ultra smooth and hell yeah iam getting comfortable with vista somehow. Lets see how stable it is in the long run :)

Lykos 01-30-2007 01:51 PM

I have it installed on one comp, and it sux major time,it doesnt support half of programs wich XP support....not time for it yet.

xp is fast on current mid-range hardware... it does anything I need it to, so I'm not going to be upgrading for a while.

I used Windows 2000 for two years after xp came out and i only switched cause it came with my laptop.

I have an alienware laptop and I have had nothing but issues with it since day one. They look cool but they are not worth it.

The jump from win98se to XP was rather impressive and was one of the best OS upgrades I?ve ever experienced in terms of stability and overall driver compatibility with existing hardware. I?ve used Vista. I?ve played around with it. Sure, it?s fine? it?s just another OS. It won?t wipe your ass. It won?t fix you a sandwich. It?s absolutely nothing special. The jump from XP to Vista is minimal when compared to 98 to XP. Until XP becomes obsolete I see no reason to upgrade to Vista; until the software I use is no longer compatible with XP, why bother upgrading?

If you are buying a new computer and it comes pre-loaded with Vista sure you have a reason to start using it. Otherwise I just don't see the point... it runs a bit slower than XP and really adds nothing new to the table than tons of DRM bullshit.

munki 01-30-2007 05:38 PM

I was running the beta for quite some time and loved it... switched back for now because unfortunately my PDA wasn't supported on all functions, but I'm sure that will be taken care of soon.

Exactly what I was going to say.
All these "problems" and "complaints" are just echos of years past.
