sponsors: why don't you email your affiliates to vote against .xxx ?

actually, same goes to anyone that has a webmaster email list.

let me hear a reasonable answer for this cause I just can't see a reason

do you think the votes have no count - that they are worth nothing ? do you think it's not important enough ? do you think .XXX is a good thing ? what is it ?

davecummings 01-30-2007 08:45 AM

Bingo!

I think everyone should be asking everyone they can possibly communicate with to quickly contact ICANN and voice their dispproval of .xxx and support of .kids.

Naja-ram 01-30-2007 10:04 AM

because they are stupid.

polish_aristocrat 01-30-2007 10:08 AM

The interesring thing is that with the lack of a major sponsor response to .xxx one or two could grab the opportunity to publically protest against it.

Just like DatingGold did with their "fuck spyware" statements which they repeated like 5 times per week... Im sure they gained some affiliates who were disappointed with AFF and their Zango situation...

polish_aristocrat 01-30-2007 10:21 AM

MikeHawk heavily opposed .xxx so let's give him a plug

and Chip from Gaybucks also did a great job with his letter(s) that I saw

Also A1r3k although Im not sure if he already sent his letter

bump for this thread and the sponsors above ^

:-)

ae-sc 02-02-2007 04:10 PM

Why are you people bitching so much? Its a voluntary measure, at best, not a requirement.

Brujah 02-03-2007 03:37 AM

bump for a great idea that hasn't really been implemented yet.

More sponsors, include a little blurb about .XXX in your affiliate emails.

Zester 02-03-2007 05:42 AM

I still didn't see an answer to my question.

if 900 anti-.xxx comments would be there from webmasters and only 15 pro-.xxx - that would serve as a vote

Not true. Your e-mails count as voting. Just remember to tell that you are a part of the industry AND that you oppose .xxx

ICANN has staff who read all e-mails and this staff determine whether the e-mail is pro/con and whether the sender is related to the industry.
:2 cents:

Zester 03-03-2007 08:08 AM

do not send your email without mentioning you are from the adult community otherwise your email will not count as a vote

Mark_E4A 03-03-2007 10:36 AM

I have my email sent in, and I did email all my affilaites, I am going to be sending out another email. :thumbsup

you rock!

seeric 03-03-2007 02:36 PM

i have emailed them. i know that some have actually sent in to ICANN as well.

I think every sponsor should email their affils.

Gaybucks 03-03-2007 05:46 PM

If you have emailed prior to January, PLEASE EMAIL AGAIN.

If you did not mention in your email that you work in the adult industry, PLEASE EMAIL AGAIN.

I was just in contact with Vint Cerf, chairman of ICANN, and he says that a statement from a significant number of companies in the industry would be "very important input".

I have emailed Jeffrey Douglas at FSC and suggested that FSC assemble a list of all companies opposed to FSC, as this would have influence with ICANN.

My stage name is "Dave Cummings" and, besides my www.davecummings.com website,
I own many adult dot.com domains. Contrary to ICM's subjective claims, I see
almost ZERO Sponsored Community support for .xxx, but I do indeed see
CONSIDERABLE opposition to it. Please permanently deny .xxx ---it's NOT wanted
by the Sponsored Community, and it's not an appropriate potential legal mess
for ICANN to become trapped into.

Sincerely,

It was a two-line email from Vint Cerf. It basically said almost verbatim what I reported, that "a statement from a majority of companies in the industry would be very important input"

If you read the minutes of the most recent meeting on .xxx, it says pretty much the same thing... ICANN board is seriously questioning Lawley's claims that his group actually represents the industry, and doubting whether the industry actually wants .xxx. If we show that the industry doesn't want it, ICANN will not approve it. Right now, there are only three members of the ICANN board that "have no major objections regarding industry support"... the other 5 or 6 are very seriously concerned.

If we keep up the emails, it WILL make a difference.
