Funny that she waited for it to make a lot of money before she laid down the suit.

there is nothing funny about it... you just dont know the details
and I cant discuss the details

but I'll never buy another fucking paris hilton domain, its been nothing but a fuckin nightmare for the past week for me since the site launched, all because I sold that domain last november.

lakroze 01-30-2007 05:22 AM

sure - this site charged me 40 bucks last week (without never hearing about it before) so - I'm not amazed it made so much money :D

Tell me more!

marko13 01-30-2007 05:30 AM

10 000 000 / 40 = 250 000 memberships.... wow... and if they rebill after one month another 10mill..

Viper2K1 01-30-2007 05:50 AM

it says it's non-recurring tho

250K memberships seems a bit high
people need to give out their creditcard details on a non-secure page ... that should scare a good amount of people away i think/hope.

I was just thinking the same thing....barely anyone looks for https

and if the site only made $10mil I am suprised, I would have expected way more with all the exposure the site has had....cbs, abc, nbc, E!, etc....front page news all around

No offense, but you should have sold it for a lot more than USD 500, at least it would have been worth all the trouble you're going through now. =P

Good luck man, don't let those lawyers get to you.

Ross 01-30-2007 06:24 AM

A lot of you need to read that news report. Theres no mention that the site has made 10 million. The people who bought the contents of the storage facility made 10 million after selling them on.

Not a bad return on $2700!

Arab_Sex 01-30-2007 07:09 AM

She has no grounds to sue. she or herself authorized someone to rent a storage locker, they signed the agreement. No one paid , due process took its coarse. contents of locker went up for auction, someone bought it, they rightfully owned what ever was in the locker.

Theres no shit coming down on me, I sold the domain last novemeber and have nothing to do with the site. I just had to sign a declaration stating that for her attorneys so they would leave me alone. But for a while, every fucking morning I'd wake up to a literal bombardment of emails and phonecalls from journalists wanting contact info and comments about who I sold the domain to. The fuckers were even tracking me down thru myspace.

As for those who say I should have sold the domain for more, I think you're not thinking. Last november, there was nothing hot about Paris Hilton. I was sitting on a domain that was given to me a few years ago, I wasnt using it for anything and had no plans to. It was just one of the few hundred domains sitting in my registrar account and a guy offered me a few hundred bucks for it, so why not let it go. If I had asked for more money (which I did at first) he would have just moved on to someone with another suitable domain and bought it instead. And the site still would have went up but been called something different.

The domain had PR0, no traffic, no backlinks, no SE listings, and just had some dating ads on it. If you had a domain like that and someone said hey I'll give you a few hundred bucks for it, you gonna tell them fuck that man this may be worth millions? Face it, parisexposed.com is not anything like sex.com or porn.com. The domain was simply not worth much.

Onixia 01-30-2007 12:10 PM

10 000 000 ? Crap !

It's refreshing to read a post by someone that thinks, reads, understands before commenting. :thumbsup

Actually, there is a difference between owning something for personal use and displaying to the public. Model release, 2257, medical privacy laws are not conveyed with a bill of sale. The couple that bought and then resold were very smart.

wow....didnt see that one coming.

Actually I hope her lawyers grang rape the site owner. Just because someone is famous doesn't mean they don't have a right to privacy.

I'm not surprised you dont see the problem. You're not the one with a mega-millionaire and her team of lawyers trying to name you as a defendant in a huge civil lawsuit. When shit gets filed, you have to hire attorneys to defend yourself whether or not the person that filed was right or wrong about you.

Do you see the problem now?

xenilk 01-30-2007 01:01 PM

Ouch, I feel bad for you Mr Pheer. Glad it's over for you!
