CPU Usage: 80% CPU Temp: 50C

I originally stress tested this computer (E6600 CPU) with various programs, let it go for hours on end in various resource-intensive games, let it number crunch, and more...

The highest temps I got after hours of use were around 42-45C while using the low setting of my water cooled system.

Congrats! The GFY Skin managed to prove to be a better stress test than multiple resource-intensive programs and graphic rich games by making my CPU reach an incredible 50C while using the low setting. Would hate to see what would happen if I tried to burn a DVD while having the page open.

Yeah lmao... I have FF setup like that already so I didn't see it that slow until I opened up IE7. As soon as IE7 was up though jesus christ, I can't believe it's seriously taking up 80% CPU and causing me to reach temperatures that I couldn't reach with stress testing software...

omg this absolutely has to suck to be them.

I have an older Pentium "D" dual core so it runs a lot hotter. The fan speed varies with loading and temp, on hot days GFY will push it up to maximum RPM sooner or later.

This page and its current combination of ads isn't too bad... 4% CPU, 56C temp (that's pretty much normal), 1844RPM fan. :Graucho

crockett 01-29-2007 05:30 PM

The worst part is none of their sites are even live.. Who the fuck advertises for affiliates when none of their sites are up?

rowan 01-29-2007 05:31 PM

Um... the above msg was posted in Mozilla

When I load it with IE I can hear the fan speed go up which means the CPU is working harder. Runs like a pig too. Back to Mozilla!

w/o the transparency seems to be fixed now in IE. No more evil 80% cpu resource hog! :D

Doctor Dre 01-29-2007 06:51 PM

Firefox never had an issue, it was IE. Now that the transparency is gone IE seems to be fine, no more high resource usage. :thumbsup

any permanent damage?

50 celcius is kinda high, i normally feel iffy if mine goes above 40 in general.

CyberHustler 01-29-2007 07:20 PM

Naw, no perm. damage. Core 2 Duos can go quite a bit higher (60 without getting worried, I'd say like 65-70 would be getting into danager zone). It's funny though that before they removed the transparency GFY could have served as the best stress test tool LOL :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

It works, just slow and sometimes hangs. The only site that does for me that I frequent.

polish_aristocrat 01-30-2007 03:04 AM
