bobby666 01-29-2007 03:15 PM

Since youtube and torrents.. and 5 peso dvd's (1.8 dollars) :P.. my tv got a vacation

teg0 01-29-2007 03:21 PM

Yeah. turn off the tv. If you need background sound that isn't music.... find some good podcasts or internet radio shows you're into.

BrettJ 01-29-2007 03:28 PM

Argentina has good open TV shows though compared to other latinamerican countries.

Peaches 01-29-2007 03:56 PM

TiVo and Spike TV :) Not to mention all the freakin' ESPN channels there are.....

And if you really want to enjoy yourself, Nickelodeon, TV Land, History Channel (several different ones), Discovery Channel, Travel Channel, Rural TV (yeah I know, but I watch it), The Military Channel, etc.

Cable/Satellite is your friend ;)

I work from home...TV stays off until I am done working. I actually get stuff done this way...I highly recommend this secretive technique :thumbsup

Mine is on but it's downstairs in the den whereas I am working in the loft. If I hear something interesting I can look down and watch it, but I'm always saying "I heard X on X show the other day" instead of saying I saw it :)

germ 01-29-2007 04:07 PM

i just turn it on the history/discovery channel and learn subconsciously.

Elli 01-29-2007 04:10 PM

I used to leave it on CNN or CBCNewsworld during the day, unless there was something interesting on Discovery or TLC or HGTV.

wyldblyss 01-29-2007 04:11 PM

I keep the tv on for company, but it mainly stays on the discovery channels

smack 01-29-2007 04:14 PM

that is why i watch c-span religiously.

it is good background noise, and always informative.

Because, statistically speaking, more women are home during the day than men, and I'm sure you would hate Days of our Lives during primetime :)

The dogs have to watch something :)

Ariel is my TV attack dog. Barking, growling, doorbell ringing (even though I don't have a doorbell) etc. and she charges for the TV. Riley hears her and starts barking too. The other two are basically deaf and sleep through it all unless they are crawled on in the process. Sometimes even then, lol. :upsidedow

Vitasoy 01-29-2007 10:14 PM

Doesn't really bother me, I'm usually tuned on sports channels

hershie 01-29-2007 10:46 PM

I work from home and live alone so always watched way too much TV. Several months ago, I made a decision to stay away from the TV completely (except for some CNBC stocks coverage during the daytime and sports) and spend more time reading books. I couldn't remember the last time I read a book. I read a ton of news online, magazine's like Economist...but somehow lost touch with the pleasure of laying around with a nice novel for a couple of hours.

I have been doing this in concert with trying to stay away from filling my head with so much current events, politics... and concentrating my focus on new approaches to things through reading about Buddhism and meditation... So far it has been an awesome change. If only I could cut down on my GFY time.

TondaB 01-29-2007 11:07 PM

I work from home and keep it on CMT all day. Obviously not everyone likes country music however if you find an all music video channel of music you like it is quite refreshing. I listen mostly until I hear a new song come on that I have not seen the video to and then all I have to do is look up for a couple minutes and take a break from my computer screen!

Vegas Ken 01-29-2007 11:13 PM

Didn't you know that you are not supposed to turn the tv on during the day.

reynold 01-29-2007 11:17 PM

The temptation of TV when working at home is high.
