Miami plans big party when Castro dies ...

:1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

MIAMI - The city of Miami is planning an official celebration at the Orange Bowl whenever Cuban president Fidel Castro dies.

Discussions by a committee appointed earlier this month by the city commission to plan the event have even covered issues such as a theme to be printed on T-shirts, what musicians would perform, the cost and how long the celebration would last.

I used to live in Miami. City is gonna go nuts.

How long until someone posts the phrase "free healthcare" in this thread?

Fucking Cubans down there have such an enormous sense of entitlement...can't fucking stand it...so much so any young stray that washes up on their shore they feel they get to keep regardless of whether or not that child has a parent back home.

Talk about anticipation.

It sounds not humanely to celebrate anybodies' death.

Damn, that's a famous sandwich down here in puerto rico...I haven't even tried one yet..I'll hit the Panaderia soon and try one..

And If I was in Florida, I'd be celebrating with them...I can't wait for that embargo to end.

Hah awesome, maybe they can do some tribute to at pinochet at the same time for killing and torturing the commies in his country and not letting it become like cuba...

djroof 01-30-2007 09:45 AM

xenilk 01-30-2007 09:58 AM

If you live in Miami, that might be a good time to take a few day vactaion and go to Disney. You DONT want to be on the streets then.

installing your storm shutters and arming yourself might be a good choice. I am betting this goes from party to riot in very short order.

When the person has oppressed millions of people for the better part of a century, 'celebration' may not be a strong enough word to describe the elation.

Let's hope he is not replaced by Tweedle Dum.

:Oh crap

They have been planning that since before the whole "bay of pigs" went down.

Although he killed thousands of people i don't think that celebrating his death is the best solution. It is not moral and I don't think that we should be happy when someone dies, although that certain person was a murderer.

I don't really care that he has killed people, he is a commie and thus deserves to die like all the other commies.

Uh, remind me which "thousands of people" Castro killed?

The reason US citizens aren't allowed there goes back to tensions during the Cuban missile crisis, then after the US tried to invade the Bay of Pigs (and failed thankfully) that didn't make them happy either.

Castro has done alot for that country, building the publicly funded health care (there, i said it :1orglaugh ) and public education systems. And although US text books may teach you that Communism is evil, it's just another political system and Castro made it work well.

Simply put, the only reason you can't go there is because your country fucked up relations with them :2 cents:

Oppressed? Oh man, they really don't teach you guys Cuban history at all... btw, his brother Raul Castro will be replacing him. Your travel status there isn't going to change.
