FTP Problems? - Webair fuuuuuckkkkkkk

Setup dedicated with Webair a few months back...

login via FTP daily to update dozen or so sites hosted on the server.....

today, can't login... same login credentials

via CP, even reset to a new password.. nada

try CuteFTP.. same thing

refresh/renew IP with my ISP... still nothing

their techs say problems with my ISP... WTF?

I cant call Cox and tell their idiot techs that my access to port 21 on my host's server is blocked...

I'm lost atm.. any suggestions?

baddog 01-28-2007 07:38 PM

first I would find someone I trusted that lived elsewhere to verify that it was an ISP issue . . . .or use a proxy IP

can you explain a bit further?

There are no DNS problems as the name resolves to a proper IP

I'm about to say the obvious, but did you restart the FTP service?

I uninstalled/reinstalled SmartFTP

installed CuteFTP ... no dice

_Rush_ 01-28-2007 09:22 PM

No, I mean on the server. Try restarting the FTP service on the server. If you have WHM, you can do it from there. Otherwise, use the shell.

tehHinjew 01-28-2007 10:03 PM

that happend to me
i could NOT connect to webair but i could connect to servage
madawg had no problem connecting to my webair account from his house

If you want, I can take a look. Don't know how comfortable you feel with that. ICQ is in the sig.

justsexxx 01-29-2007 07:12 AM

Like many ppl said, feel free to send your info to me. I will test it. And change your password right after that...If you don't feel comfortable doing so, I understand that as well...

WebairGerard 01-29-2007 07:40 AM

trying to contact you via ICQ.... Feel free to contact me directly and I will help you get this taken care of if you still need assistance. Thanks.

directfiesta 01-29-2007 07:51 AM

Happens .... could be a firewall issue.
If you have a laptop, go to a Starbuck ( or similar free wi-fi place ).
Login from there.
If you succeed, you know it is YOUR setup, not webair.

I sometimes am asked to go in some clients account to fix stuff, and they give me the wrong password.
My firewalls will block the connecting IP after 5 failures ... then I go out at minus 20 on Starbucks snowy terrace ...

OG LennyT 01-29-2007 10:25 AM

Update: I installed a diff. router still get;

Quote:

[10:20:56] SmartFTP v2.0.1002.0
[10:20:56] Resolving host name "ftp.badtito.com"
[10:20:56] Connecting to 67.55.90.20 Port: 21
[10:20:56] Connected to ftp.badtito.com.
[10:20:58] Cannot login waiting to retry (30s)...
[10:20:58] Server closed connection
called my ISP (Cox) and they told me only port 25 is blocked (email related)...

this is so frustrating.. Ghost Rush logged into my server but I cannot :(

OG LennyT 01-29-2007 10:42 AM

one more update: I can login from my laptop and several other pcs in the house... it's gotta be a prob with this mofo.

thanks to all that helped me

_Rush_ 01-29-2007 11:34 AM

My FTP is seriously fucked up and it's because of these idiots in puerto rico can't run a decent cable company...I have to babysit every upload/download because the data socket fails to connect...But when i use any other internet connection, it's fine..

It's your ISP...I was told the same port 21 thing when I had issues some months ago.

IP Specific?

OG LennyT 01-29-2007 01:51 PM

It's fixed guys... funny it worked alright after I called Cox... but I still suspect it was my pc as I uninstalled SmartFTP, rebooted, then reinstalled..
