Okay, I gave it a chance . . .

I have never seen any of the Star Wars flicks. This has not bothered me in the least as I have never watched Star Trek or Lord of the Rings either, but I have friends that think there is something wrong with me because of this.

Well, Star Wars 3 came on, so I decided I would see what the big deal is.

Well, 33 minutes is all I can take of this. Here come the Simpsons.

People's attention spans are shorter when they get old. It's sad...... :Oh crap

Interesting and entertaining movies hold my attention quite easily.

The newer 3 werent as good as the first three

CDSmith 01-28-2007 07:15 PM

Well, you really should see them in order, starting with episode 4, then "The empire strikes back", then "Return of the Jedi"..... those in my opinion are well worth seeing at least once.

Then if you're still interested in the back-story, see 1 through 3. Personally I don't know much about those episodes, I've only seen bits and pieces of them at best.

I loved all the Star Trek movies, but I was a huge fan of the original series. Kirk rules.

Especially fat Kirk. :D

Um, you can't watch Episode 3 (I'm watching now) and then say "Star Wars Sucks". Its a whole storyline. If you don't want to watch all six movies, thats understandable, but you can't have a full opinion or grasp on what's happening.

Thats like reading 2 chapters in the middle of say... Lord of the Flies and then say "man, that was a boring book". Of course its boring, you don't know what's happening!

The Simpson's still rule...

Sly 01-28-2007 07:27 PM

Rome is on tonight, 2 episodes, I'm interested in checking that out.

evildick 01-28-2007 07:29 PM

Just pretend episodes 1 - 3 don't exist, you can appreciate the series much more. I admit they are almost unwatchable. Lucas somehow manages to make even great actors and actresses seem wooden with his boring dialogue reminiscent of a high school play. I guess it might have something to do with the fact they were standing in front of green screens for the entire film.

The older films were much more organic feeling with their old fashioned puppets and stop motion. I prefer the look of them to the new ones which look too fake to me.

The original films are in fact pretty good. I guess more so in how they revolutionized the industry and genre at the time they came out.

star wars sucks.:2 cents:

notabook 01-28-2007 07:31 PM

Give Star Wars another try baddog... watch episode 4 first. Although it's not as good as Empire it will at least be hundreds of times better than any of that shit that was in the new star wars movies.

reynold 01-28-2007 07:37 PM

I know of some people who aren't into LOTR or Star Wars, too. You're not alone on this, baddog.

Don't get much more of a committed Simpson's fan than yours truly.

The ink says it all.

I read The Hobbit and the LOTR trilogy about 35 years ago.

Kimo 01-28-2007 11:32 PM

i have never sat thru an entire starwars movie either

Mr Pheer 01-28-2007 11:58 PM

the new Battlestar Galactica series kicks ass

I've never seen one on tv, but I have seasons 1 & 2 on DVD, about 3/4 of the way thru season 1... best space shit I've seen. The actors and storyline are great, its like a drama but based in space. And that blonde Cylon chic is a major fuckin hottie

Holly 01-29-2007 12:32 AM

I think I saw the first Star Wars back in grade school, but I can't remember what it was about. Someone gave me a dvd of one of the latest ones a few years ago with Natalie Portman and that other dude that I can't remember. I watched part of it but didn't know what was going on.

Never seen any of the LOTR.

On a semi-related note- I watched Little Miss Sunshine Friday night and it sucked ass. I can't believe how much everyone has been yammering over that crap. I also saw The Black Dahlia and it sucked, too. Wasn't even about the fucking murder.

Fizzgig 01-29-2007 12:39 AM

I never really got into Star Wars either.

I think I made it about 5 minutes into that one before moving on.
