I said nothing, but observe that Firefox is used without any Zango toolbar.

A screenshot of your brain?

Brujah 01-28-2007 03:55 AM

It says it's "Safe and Secure" by Zango.. don't you trust them?

TexasDreams 01-28-2007 04:05 AM

GFY does NOT do any pop-ups that install software.

There's not an advertiser on this planet that could afford us to change that policy. :)

This is a Zango popoup. Who paid for it? Who's behind? Why no Zango popups from AFF here? Why AFF Zango popups at other boards and not here? Many questions.

You ban people, criticizing the use and thefts by Zango hard, don't you? Monro is an example! Maybe more, I don't know.
He had no proof, you said. Now you are victims yourselves. You could make a stand against Zango by not allow sites using Zango to advertise here as an example.

I state nothing, no need to ban me, TexasDreams! According to the screenshot, I do think others will find the very same Zango popup here.

martinsc 01-28-2007 04:46 AM

well, did you download the free software?

Dagwolf 01-28-2007 04:47 AM

Maybe there's some other adware on your system?

If you do not understand how Zango works, please do not do silly postings about it!

Zango do pops up where they are paid to do it. Other spyware do not have "Powered by Zango" in the popups.
Zango is spyware as it infect other browsers than installed in, in my case I have the Zango toolbar in explorer and it infect Firefox as well.

At the green board Zango had a popup when you entered the serious thread discussing Zango.

Install Zango and you will see what 20.000.000+ surfers will see.

Lykos 01-28-2007 05:33 AM

itzs your system definitly,i never had prob like that

I don't want to rain on your drama parade, but Zango ads a based on BOTH keyword and/or domain. I could go out right now and buy Zango traffic for gfy.com and most likely produce the same result... OR... a Zango user (victim) could trigger a Zango pop by visiting gfy (or any other site) that has one of my keywords in the TEXT on the page.

Pump your brakes, cowboy. There is no conspiracy here.

I must have a funny system indeed!

If entering the thread at the green place fighting Zango ( only that thread! )
this Zango popup covered the whole screen:

"This ad is served by Zango. It has been delivered for two reasons. First, you are a Zango consumer who knowingly and willingly installed our desktop advertising software onto your computer in order to access a large catalog of entertaining and useful online videos, games, music, tools and utilities. Much like television, this content is funded by advertising and is therefore free of charge to you, the consumer. Second, because all our ads are delivered by keywords, much like ads displayed in search engine results, we are able to anonymously target this specific ad to Zango consumers who have initiated some relevant connection to the Web page www.adwaresucks.com/zango/.

This ad ? our ad ? responds to some of the most blatantly false accusations on that page and provides you, our valued customer, with Zango?s side of the story.

Point one: Your computer is not ?infected.? The Web page in question is designed to ?scare the surfer,? as its ?creator? has confessed (and as is probably obvious from the huge red lettering and the over-the-top nuclear radiation symbol). You, the consumer, control your PC. We at Zango have gone to great lengths to ensure that every consumer who installs our software sees, prior to installation, a fully and conspicuously disclosed plain-language notice and consent process. In addition, this process and subsequent messages and reminders all include a link for more information about Zango, including uninstall instructions.

Point two: We do not monitor your computer activities, period. Our foremost concern is for the privacy of our customers. We are committed to protecting that privacy; Zango?s desktop advertising software does not collect personally identifiable information. Ever.

Point three: We strongly ?believe in your right to be informed,? but being informed requires access to fact and reality, not innuendo and scare tactics. Here?s fact and reality: Today, 200,000 consumers just like you will make the informed choice to install Zango and join our network of more than 20 million users worldwide in order to access more than 100,000 pieces of free digital content across the Web. They do so in exchange for viewing targeted advertising while anonymously searching or browsing Web sites.

We are committed to safe and ethical Best Practices and take a number of steps to notify consumers as to what our software does, how it works and how to easily uninstall Zango. To learn more about Zango or to contact us, visit www.zango.com.

Don?t like Zango? Uninstall the software. But do so only because you?ve decided to take that action after weighing the advantages and disadvantages ? a calculation you can?t make based on scare tactics and misinformation. Millions of people use Zango everyday to access online videos, games, tool and utilities. We trust that you value our offering and hope that we can continue to be your online media company of choice."

Firefox didn't pop it up. Zango did. Not very complicated.

Pete-KT 01-28-2007 12:58 PM

Galina Los 01-28-2007 01:09 PM

holly shit!

what do you mean? I rally don't understand?????????????????????

interracialtoons 01-28-2007 01:17 PM

This is stupid....GFY aint doing the popups...and didn't pay for no stupid popup. Why the fuck would they need to, each of us gets 100 page views a day with banner ads. They don't need no stupid popup.

Run a spyware program.

TheDoc 01-28-2007 01:23 PM

I don't think he is saying GFY is doing the popups - It's pretty clear that he has zango installed and because of this he got a popup on GFY which isn't normal even when you have zango installed.

However, you can still get popups on any URL while you have zango installed - it doesn't mean someone purchased keywords to target the domain. Depending on the spyware installed with zango it can produce popups while your browser isn't active.

Dagwolf 01-28-2007 01:25 PM

I think he was implying that GFY is doing the popups.

woj 01-28-2007 01:58 PM
