Woah!!!! That .XXX guy STUART LAWLEY is gonna be at XBIZ speaking on .XXX <DAMN!>
WOW!
http://www.xbiz.com/news_piece.php?id=19314 This is gonna generate some juice with the attendees. This will surely be standing room only and I predict major heat. WOAH. If you don't know who he is, he is the guy that is trying to push .xxx through. http://opinion.zdnet.co.uk/comment/0...9149850,00.htm This show just got bigger. |
Cant we push something threw him?
|
wow is right. wonder how this'll play out
|
Hey AIR3K I really appreciate your involvement in this matter, most webmasters seem not to care at all... Have you notified your affiliates about the issue already?

I will for sure be at this and have some questions. I will have to stay sober for this one, I tend to be a little more easily agitated when I'm slammed. :1orglaugh |
Just make sure you have intelligent arguments prepared. Nothing worse than a bunch of hotheads yelling and cursing.

"This is an extraordinary opportunity to listen to and speak with ICM — a force that will likely shape the landscape of adult entertainment online in the years to come, if .XXX becomes a reality,” XBIZ Publisher Tom Hymes said. “I invite all adult entertainment industry professionals to attend the panel on the assumption that .XXX will pass. The question that the panel and the attendees must address is, ‘What happens now?’”
hmm two things 1. I thought Tom Hymes from Xbiz, (formely from Free Speech Coalition) was against .xxx just 2 weeks ago http://forum.icann.org/lists/xxx-icm.../msg00003.html so why invite these guys now? :helpme 2. I hope ICM won't buy everyone drinks cause in that case they will become "top notch guys" very soon :1orglaugh :error |

Then again, I probably won't say anything, this battle needs to be won at ICANN not at the show. I hope people keep their composure and not show their hand to the competition. :2 cents: I have to remain dignified and statuesque. I wouldn't want to let down Xbiz or the industry by being the voice for everyone without permission. I'm sure that you will see your fair share of "he's a great guy" and "i don't see why everyone is so against him" posts after people shake hands with him. I encourage everyone to be grown up and educated in their approaches and words and remember that he's just looking to do what everyone else is, which is PAD HIS POCKETS at our expense. Bottom line is, .xxx does not stop child p-ornography .xxx does not stop kids from seeing p-orn .xxx will not stop porn spam .xxx will not stop sexual predators These are the legs of the argument that need to be broken that he stands on. Anyways, off to diddle my widdle for awhile. :1orglaugh |
maybe they should get Zango to come also?
|
By the way, airek, do you realize public ICANN comments will close by feb 5th (less than 10 days left)? This would be the easiest way for your affiliates to protest to the proposals. Anyway, thanks a lot!

we want to make it easy for them to click a link and type a few words as well as the canned response. |

the guy can be very nice etc and he may talk like if .xxx will be good for us but fact is that it won't the domain is going to cost 70 bucks as compared to $7 for .com, that alone says what his motives are. These guys claim like they want to help the "Responsible part" of the adult industry to "self-regulate" (lol @ self) but thats total bullshit. They created IFFOR an organisation which they would never create if they didn't want to make money from the .xxx idea for the rest of their lives. Now imagine this - .xxx becomes introduced, at the beginning it gets almost no websites under it (the people who are registering .xxx will be domain speculators and companies pretecting their trademarks) but later the US Congress makes .xxx mandatory..... or ..for example... VISA buys ICM bullshit arguments about "responsible self-regulation" etc and they say "from January 2009 we are going to process adult sites only under .xxx". Now imagine how much traffic you will lose if all the offices block .xxx by default... Look at this chart (remove the space after http) http:// iffor.org/images/IFFOR_Org_Chart.gif do you want such organisation to monitor your websites and tell you how to run your biz? :helpme |

or worse. ICANN goes through and filters the .coms and just turns them off. Anything can happen and I don't trust anyone when money is a motivator. |

If all you aspire to be is another lame ass sit on the fence publication we don't need it we have enough already. Even AVN has had the balls to step forth and say this is a bad idea. Fuck you and your defeatist attitude you should be rallying us against .XXX not leading us to the fucking gas chambers. |
Tom are you that naive that you think they are going to give straight answers when they haven't before.its not over til its over, for a industry publication its not very pro industry. Also 2257 is a very different beast and you know that, no one makes money off of 2257. What I figure was this choice was made above you and someone with a interest in this becoming a success. Whores its a industry of whores its so sad.

or maybe tom and xbiz got bought same way ICM tried to buy the FSC and would have been successful had Bill Lyon not intervened.

To use an allusion like the gas chambers is disgusting. |
Guess what Tom I could care if you like it or not. I don't like your attitude that at this point we have to accept .XXX
You really want to do something productive make that little cock roach Lawley justify why he keeps trying to ram this down outr throat when we clearly do not want it. Like I said grow some balls you say one thing and do another |
It boils down to: First Lawley & Co. want our money for the .xxx domains, then congress prepares for the finishing blow.
Clever idea: Let webmasters dig their own graves and sell them 75$ shovels to do so. |

Tom youd make a great politician you open your mouth and warm air comes out and doesnt say anything substantive. How much did it take for Lawley to buy Xbiz? 7-8 buckes per domain? That what they offered The FSC...

There is NO "productive relationship" with .XXX domains or Lawley. Can someone send his ass back to the UK to his past history of fucked up companies? Thanks. Meanwhile, the motivators in XBiz are excelling themselves at attempted asslicking with this cosy range of speakers, - heralded as "achievements" for this damned show. There is NO relationship with the DOJ, FBI or any law enforcement agency - they don't represent the adult industry or anyone in it - they enforce laws on behalf of the government and paid by taxpayers to do this. XBiz never did represent the "adult industry" tho Helmy may have had ambitions to do so by presenting a bullshit righteous face. I see that has not changed much. |

But hey.. some of the human species have these predatory tendencies and a need to claim they represent an industry - usually due to an excess of greed buds :) |

Seriously, sure there are valid points in child protection and, even forgetting all laws, there is a responsiblity to make efforts to avoid access by children. You know all the possible mechanisms already. Changing domains into .XXX TLD's mean nothing - except to ICM who have a vested financial interest which is hardly an honorable basis to address child protection - it's more of child usage for profit than protection. Kinda pathetic and sad. |
that it is webby very sad but isnt that typical....seems XBiz has learned from the christian right

Tom,
do you expect us to believe you when you work for a guy who is a proponent of .xxx? thats why he hired you. You think he hired you because you are some brilliant journalist? no, because you were the leading man against this and now you switched teams like a post op tranny. It must suck when you are as liberal as you are and you work for a right wing save a hoe. Duke |
Holy fuktards.
Those bashing Tom, are completely misdirected, and doing more harm in your ignorance of the issues than any constructive criticism. Tom has been and continues to be a voice of reason to those that oppose the adult industry. He has been against .XXX from the beginning, and his role at Xbiz as publisher has placed him in a position where ICM can be asked questions and bring transparency to a very murky and muddy pond. What is "the fight" that people want to do? What protest? Where's the organization, the direction, the focus, and the plan for such activities? What do you think can be done to stop .XXX, other than flaming xbiz? I personally don't think much can be done, and that has clearly been demonstrated by the lack of webmaster's even posting up. Even if posting up was futile, it would atleast give an outlet for the continued outrage over .xxx ICM claims they have over 1,000 adult webmasters who have sent them emails of support. Doesn't matter if you believe that or not, we couldn't get 1,000 adult webmasters posting up against .XXX the last time, and even worse numbers showed up this time.. in fact, probably more pro-.XXX supporter numbers are there. I believe .XXX will get approved by ICANN through the information i have received, so the issue now is to get out of the stage of denial, and focus on the aftermath issues of when it gets approved, and what that means for individual businesses and as an industry as a whole. You may think that xbiz supports .xxx, but there is pen to paper documentation of adult companies who gave support to .XXX a few years back. What stopped .XXX last time, wasn't the adult biz.. it was the Department of Commerce, the religious groups, and the members of ICANN/GAC that objected on various terms of the .XXX agreement. Tom did play a key part of that in delivering to ICANN, Larry Flynt's position against .XXX.. but there were other forces at work that did the bigger pounding. The objections from the last round were being worked on when we thought this was all over, and now, it appears the i's have been dotted, and t's have been crossed on the agreement language. I hope Tom sees past the few people making the negative comments towards him to know there is a greater amount who are reading and watching who appreciate his efforts in the charge and his efforts in all issues that affect webmasters. I know that i am continually vigilant, and for those that say i am not "part of the biz" because i am not a pornographer, a big GFY salute.. i have given more time and effort in the various controversial issues to help webmasters undestand and deal with the issues than any content/pornsite has done. I understand the emotional place where the sentiment is coming from, but it is misdirected and turning on ones own. Fight the .XXX! |
if .xxx passes i am SO fucked... and so is everyone else.
.xxx doesnt even make sense :( |
