Who here uses SKYPE for calls and as a messenger ?

I just use it to talk to other Skype people, it's free that way.

Sound is good, if one of you don't have a headset you'll get the dreaded echo. It loses connection from time to time, but not enough to piss you off.

I used it to make phone calls.
Man, sounds is better than if you use a traditional phone. I've been talking with other countries for hours, and never had a problem with it. Also supports DTMF if you need to like go through voicemail or something. Accepting calls is very convinient, it can redirect them to your cellphone if you're not online.

I'm in Estonia, and I'm on 4mbps down / 512kbps up cable.

Go for it. Its cooler than any other VoIP tool out there.

It rocks bro. I have 3 of there phones. I use one phone when I travel that is powered by my USB port in my laptop. Then I have there wifi phone which allows skype to skype or out bound calls if you can pick up a wireless network. Then for my office I have there cordless phone that needs to be plugged in for power. I use there VOIP service and speak skype to skype for free with other skype users and make out bound calls all over the world for less than .02 per minute and the chat as well. I had vonage and I hated it because of the external router. NO router needed with skype. Plus no monthly fees you just load your account in 25 euro increments from your visa or pay pal.

i use it all the time... the IM i use private... and to call... in the office i have no landline phone line... i use skype out... quality is very nice if your internet is fast enough...

don't use it as a messenger
only for voice talk and sometimes for international calls
the quality mostly depends on your internet connection.

I am calling from Ecuador to Russia and Estonia. From PC to PC and from PC to home phone.
The connection is fine all the time. It was difficult to dial up on New Year evening, but that is normal.

skype but also skype out and in - plus skype does free 1-800 calls, which arent free outside the US so thats nice too

i have the unlimited calls within the US and canada for skype
pretty good service, sometimes people on the other line report a sligt echo but thats pretty rare now
