WHY the FUCK is gfy so slow sometimes
 

Seriously , no knocks on the gerbils ( or techs , ok maybe a little ) but what the fuck

There isnt one website i surf that is so slow.

Cant we get some freon blasters on the gerbils or something ?

Speaking of that is it maybe the ads script causing the slowdown ?

I often tend to get long winded in my reply's and occasionally my post gets eaten ( i have learned to copy my posts before i post them *ridiculous* ) granted most of the time i get eaten not the post but lots of times the posts as well. Im on a fairly fast connection so i dont think its me thats the problem. :)


p.s. not sure if the mods are allowed to disclose even vague figures but whats gfy's ad revenue per month ? or more importantly. what would each gfy member have to pay each month to have it ad free ( i realise that might not be a "goal" but curiosity gets to me.

Sometimes I turn off images when the speed is really getting to me. Too bad you can't just turn off the flash plugin like that.

Tell me about it. It's too slow that when I went outside to buy food, GFY was stil loading when I came back.

too many processes at once, gfy always works fine duringthe wee hours for me, but during peak times it's hit and miss whenever you click.

It always loads fast for me.

Maybe once or twice that it loads slow.

in ie you can just go to "manage add-on" under tools then disable flash , it will say you may need to restart ie but you dont. you can re-enble it anytime.

Strangely enough just after i made this post gfy started loading super fast ?? wierd . i also disabled flash , i dont think flash would cause such problems but perhaps it has to do with the ads script

it is strangely coinicidental though that i turned that off and my gfy is loading faster than it has in months

someone else try it that has slow gfy .. disable shockwave flash under tools >manage addons

Yeah ... there are a bunch of bigger forums then GFY and GFY gotta be the slowest of them

somtimes its slow, sometimes you want to shoot yourself. sometimes the screen refreshes itself and goes back to the top, this has be happening a lot lately.

anyway, i am not knocking gfy. just seems that them being a "webmaster" board that it would work like a swiss watch. but hey, what do i know? i only see this side.:2 cents:

If you ask me now it is slow......but sometime goes like a fury
