MMA is now a mainstream sport.

They just have to keep out the scummy boxing promoters.

It will continue to grow in popularity but it will be nowhere near the number one sport. at least in in the US. I can see in some contries it being the top draw but as along as the NFL, MLB and NBA are operational the best it can hope for is to outdraw hockey and be 4th of 5th most popular.
