Since when was the last time any of you fuckers came up with something innovative? Seems like these days the adult biz is nothing but copycatters. Youtube spawns Pornotube, Myspace spawns AdultSpace. So whats the problem here? Has this business lost its innovative edge?

When it happens, it'll probably come from the rookies and not the dinosaurs. That's how it happens in mainstream isn't it? The old school of the industry doesn't take the risks or listen to what the rookies have to say. They sometimes think they already know everything there is to know and dismiss any good ideas. There's also no money being poured into investing in the ideas of these rookies, unlike in mainstream.

My logic? You didnt read the thread right, I said the adult business hasnt been a creative force on the internet in years, the biggest advertising revenue model isnt dialers/popups/etc(that adult biz invented) its CPC, the biggest social gathering places(Myspace etc) on the internet are not owned/created/controlled by the adult business, the largest video site(Youtube) on the internet isnt a porn video site(and it damn well SHOULD be), I just dont see a lot of creative push from the adult biz as I did in the late 90s/early 00s. I sure hope someone breaks out with something soon.

Innovation comes with need, I am sure there are those out there thinking and working on new ideas. Do you think for one minute that they would be stupid enough to let you in on thier ideas? That wouldn't be very innovative, would it....

actually, that's not true. the biggest advertising revenue WAS popups. The CPC model (Cost Per Click) was also invented by adult and discarded by adult as too much fraud for the trouble. Mainstream has made it THEIR biggest revenue model because they are several years behind adult. The CPC model will collapse just as it did in adult.

Look the question is valid, where is the innovation in this industry? This isnt a thread about my personal achievements I already said I am a relative newb(4 years) and I do just fine with what I have. I want the adult business to be cutting edge again, it benefits us all.

If it wasn't for the Adult Business you wouldn't see these type of sites.

RSS feeds were not created by the adult industry and no they are not at the FOREFRONT most mainstream blogs and nerd-like sites have had strong large rss feed readerships for years. its just another non-adult innovation that adult has adapted(and wisely).

Just today I was showing my DVD distributor some female pics I wanted to use as a box cover for my next movie.

They did not conform to the "typical" LA box cover "shot" and I was told "you need to look at the guys selling big numbers and copy those poses, your poses are just not box covers. There is a certain look that needs to be on a cover."

I fell out of my seat. To actually be told to copy someone else and NOT be creative, wow. Of course I will do just the opposite of what they say because that is what I feel needs to be done.

In no way was my photos "new" but they were different from US poses and was more along the lines of hip Japanese poses with the feet coming at ya.

And the DVD industry wonders why sales are going down, down, down. It's because everyone copies everyone, just like we do online, and a new idea gets bent down like a protruding nail.

Using a word other than Fact: in the title of this thread would have been innovative.

I think your thread title is incorrect. It's not that the adult business as a whole isn't innovative, it's that maybe 90% of those IN the biz aren't innovative....many of whom are sitting around waiting for someone ELSE to be innovative so they can steal or otherwise rip off their ideas. :1orglaugh

The adult biz rarely innovates... it monetizes new technology in a way that mainstream can only dream of.

I love when I hear "Check out so and so and let's do something like THAT cuz I hear they do really good numbers" Eeeks! Try, test, and tweak! Your OWN ideas... There are major plans over here to change this very problem. They are already rolling with some ideas that have not been implemented and already seeing results. I think this year is going to cause a major shift in the way everyone is doing things.

The newest things are porn on phones ? I haven't really looked into any of this yet but would have to think it is one of the new distribution methods of porn. All in all I don't think a lot has happened in the last 3 or 4 years.

One thing the porn industry needs is a true billing company. OnlynNeed a couple hundred million VC money to get one of these companies rolling. Something that you don't fund with visa but works like visa, where the company loans out money and makes interest. 100% independent of visa.

People need an alternative once and for all. Who can fuck with us then. Not to mention it would be a popular payment method but imagine if visa regs get tougher and tougher or they pull the plug one day, this would be a multi billion a year company over night. Everyone knows the credit card model works, why not create one that caters to a multi billion dollar a year industry , business that visa doesn't want anyway.

I used to setup RDF outputs from my TGP years ago (about 1999), and setup a feed reader on Trillian to watch when someone submitted a new gallery.

Also, the new innovations are ones that you are never going to see, until it's too late to jump on the bandwagon. The industry framework has been built, the working business models are already in place, the only innovations that happen now are on a much higher level than you'll ever understand, and even if you get to that point, they'll be that much further ahead of you. If you want to see innovation, invent something yourself, and then come here and show us all how smart you are. lol, because that's what innovators do, they invent things to go show off to everyone on message boards. pffft.
