Wordpress 2.1 Ella is OUT!! WHOOOOUUU
Guys I am very glad to see the new version of Wordpress released! I've just spotted it in my wp dashboard.....here's the link: http://wordpress.org/development/2007/01/ella-21/
And the features: * Autosave makes sure you never lose a post again. * Our new tabbed editor allows you to switch between WYSIWYG and code editing instantly while writing a post. * The lossless XML import and export makes it easy for you to move your content between WordPress blogs. * Our completely redone visual editor also now includes spell checking. * New search engine privacy option allows you take you to indicate your blog shouldn?t ping or be indexed by search engines like Google. * You can set any ?page? to be the front page of your site, and put the latest posts somewhere else, making it much easier to use WordPress as a content management system. * Much more efficient database code, faster than previous versions. Domas Mituzas from MySQL went over all our queries with a fine-toothed comb. * Links in your blogroll now support sub-categories and you can add categories on the fly. * Redesigned login screen from the Shuttle project. * More AJAX to make custom fields, moderation, deletions, and more all faster. My favorite is the comments page, which new lets you approve or unapprove things instantly. * Pages can now be drafts, or private. * Our admin has been refreshed to load faster and be more visually consistent. * The dashboard now instantly and brings RSS feeds asynchronously in the background. * Comment feeds now include all the comments, not just the last 10. * Better internationalization and support for right-to-left languages. * The upload manager lets you easily manage all your uploads pictures, video, and audio. * A new version of the Akismet plugin is bundled. Pretty amazing, eh :) ? :thumbsup :thumbsup Wordpress fucking ROCKS! |
Now including massive new exploits! OMG!

Awesome, gonna try it tomorrow!
Thanks. I'llcheck it out, too.
Just installed it on one domain 99% problem free. One plugin didn't work but there was an update on the author's website so the end result was 100% success :)
anyone have tried upgrading 1.5.2 to higher version without getting problem?
thanks for the heads up.
damn i hate updating ... always fucks up designs and plugins... |
Sounds tight. Now if I can just get the stupid side bar floating problem taken care of on some of our blogs I will rejoice with you...
I was allerted to this early this morning, and have bookmarked it... Thanks for the info on that!

ah laziness is a bitch.
I will upgrade soon. |
Anyone having a problem when they upgrade with the links section of their blog showing up an error on the actual page? That whole area in the admin has changed so I am trying to figure out what I have to fix.
looks like the link categories and the post categories have been merged or something?

looks like nearly everybody is having this problem...how does one downgrade back to the old version? Luckily, I tested it on my latest and least developed blog. Another thing I didn't like is that the firefox on the fly spell check thing doesn't work with it anymore. It has its own spell check but I purposely misspelled words and ran the spell check and it didn't catch them.

Whether there is a good reason for the change or not, the old "links" are now "bookmarkers", so all but a couple of variations of the original ways to display them no longer work. A simple change of line to (at its most basic) wp_list_bookmarks() does the trick. BUT this particular area of change also has a couple of flaws. You are supposed to be able to over-ride the list wrappers, except it turns out someone hardcoded them, so you cannot. If it is a problem for you, edit wp-includes/bookmark-template.php Overall tho, I was surprized how easily the upgrade went and it is a definite improvement, particularly in respect of having better-written SQL queries. |
mmm interesting stuff :2 cents:
I personnaly use my home made blog. But I'm sure a lot of people will be happy with this!
