Are you going to Jump on Vista or wait for the service Pack to come out?

So the release is the 30th.. though there is apperantly a 4 month wait, but those already in line, are you going to install right away?

StuartD 01-22-2007 01:58 PM

I already have one of the beta's installed and am happy.
I wouldn't wait for fear... I may wait just because I don't really need it asap.

It's a pretty decent system. I'm happy with it.

ADL Colin 01-22-2007 01:58 PM

I'm buying a new notebook next month with Vista already installed.

NaughtyRob 01-22-2007 01:59 PM

Definitely wait.

chaze 01-22-2007 01:59 PM

I will wait about 6 months.

Brad 01-22-2007 02:03 PM

is there a new file system with vista or is it just NTFS or FAT32 still?

Nookster 01-22-2007 02:03 PM

I will wait...forever. No need for a new system. XP is a workhorse...why upgrade when I have everything I need? Anyways, I've heard some bad experiences with it already and I'm in no desperation over anything in the new system.

It's still NTFS. Nothing new. :2 cents: ...well scratch that. Pretty much the only thing new is the concept they stole from Sun Microsystems (3D windows).

Radiate 01-22-2007 02:14 PM

definitely sp1

If you use special programs, make sure they're Vista compatible. Or else, no reason not to upgrade. Looks good, runs smooth. You'll always have problems with Windows (how long has XP and 2000 been out and we still have TONS of holes) so staying away doesn't always make you safe. Make sure to backup all your stuff as with any new software installation.

If you use SQL, I'd stay away for another year cause they're having a lot of issues getting SQL running on it and probably won't be fixed for another 10 months or so.

starpimps 01-22-2007 02:31 PM

i usually wait 6 months after a new windows
so they can fix up all the crap they screwed up at the launch

Sosa 01-22-2007 03:21 PM

I'll wait for sure. Need to make my programs like Stats Remote, Chamelleon Submitter, and other little programs work good.

SeniorX 01-22-2007 03:32 PM

u guys should check out linux, it's come a long way and is kicking vista's ass

VeriSexy 01-22-2007 05:17 PM

no plans on upgrading

notabook 01-22-2007 05:19 PM

No real interest in this OS at all. XP works quite well for me for what I do; I'll wait at least until the first service pack before I even consider it. Vista is not that 'radical' of a jump from XP that XP was from 98SE (I say 98SE because ME doesn't even fucking count as an OS, jesus christ it was awful.).

Spunky 01-22-2007 05:19 PM

I'll need a new computer to run it,but I'll wait until the bugs are fixed first

nosey 01-22-2007 05:21 PM

going to wait for a bit

Pornwolf 01-22-2007 06:21 PM

The only new OS I can see myself trying is Linux although I'm sure Vista will be pre-installed on the next notebook I buy.

Elli 01-22-2007 06:23 PM

In this case I will not be an early adopter. I'll probably be quite a bit behind the curve, unless someone can show me a damn good reason to change OS's at this point.

RawAlex 01-22-2007 06:25 PM

Elli, I think that everyone in the adult online world should be pushing hard to get people to install this new software, because it is going to screw up companies like Zango that have been screwing most of us over for too long.

Wait. You work for cams.com. So, yeah, i guess you want people to stay on XP as long as possible!

How is Vista going to counteract ad companies like that?

Heeeellllll no. I'm going to wait like 2 years, maybe more before I upgrade to Vista. Seriously.

From the Zango faq page:

"Can I use Zango with Microsoft Windows Internet Explorer 7?

Yes, Zango is compatible with Microsoft Windows Internet Explorer 7 (IE7). However, Microsoft requires that you restart your computer when upgrading to IE7. This means you may experience problems with Zango if you did not restart your computer when you installed IE7. If you did not restart your computer when installing IE7, or are uncertain, and find that Zango isn't working properly, please restart your computer and this should correct the problem.
If you are still experiencing problems with Zango, please contact us

I downloaded Zango using Firefox ® but I can’t access videos, games, applications, screensavers or other Zango content?

Zango is compatible with Firefox versions 1.x. However, due to recent changes with the release of Firefox 2, you may not be able to access Zango content at the current time. Please try using Microsoft Windows Internet Explorer."

Soo.. since I've been advocating the use of FireFox for quite a long time now.. jeez, man.

Security is higher on vista, many of the existing install hooks won't work, and the newest adware software will detect and block these things out better. Essentially, during the install process, I expect to see things like Zango get booted out or turned off.

RawAlex 01-22-2007 06:39 PM

Noting that IE7 with XP and IE7 with Vista will be different... and nobody can be sure. I am confident that people will upgrade computers and do fresh installs to put in vista, and that too will lower the number of outstanding installs. Considering that Zango's churn rate is pretty high to start with, this could set them back for a while.

Companies that have been using even less honest methods for getting installs (such as using long standing security holes that people haven't patched) will find those holes gone.

Worldnet 01-22-2007 06:54 PM

XP works fine for me. Don't need it.

wdsguy 01-22-2007 06:58 PM

I'm going to wait on it.

Miguel T 01-22-2007 07:08 PM

I will be installing Vista right away! ;)
Can't wait for it!!!

Rankings 01-22-2007 07:16 PM

looks like wait is winning

MaDalton 01-22-2007 08:22 PM

i have the Vista CD and 10 licenses here - but i won't use it. too much trouble with drivers and a couple of programs won't work either. plus at least 2gb RAM to work smoothly, most of my PCs are not even capable to run it.

but i just upgraded to Office 2007 - that one is actually not too bad. you just need a while to get used to the new interface

tony286 01-22-2007 08:24 PM

I see no reason to, thinking about trying sled10 on my surfing computer.
