Question as to why people use ICQ over AIM
 

Any Ideas. Personally, I really don't like ICQ. But what are your feelings?

ICQ? AIM? Fuck them both, use Trillian man ;)

ICQ is old school. Many of us used that 10 years ago+ before MSN or AOL IM clients.

I use both Trillian and Gaim (Trillian for my friends accounts, Gaim for work). ICQ is preferable to other IMs because it provides more annonimity - you can be a number as opposed to a name, it is the easiest to encrypt. ICQ also brings with it some nostolgia as it was the first IM of its kind (at least that I remember).

Yeah the lower your ICQ number the more gangster you are in this industry - street credit :)

I've just used ICQ for so long. When I had AIM, I used DeadAIM so that it kept a history. Which has been very helpful :)

ICQ was around long before AIM and became the industry standard.

ICQ is so 90s :P

Not only was ICQ a good program, but at this point, it's as simple as the fact that ICQ is the most popular with adult webmasters and industry people.

i personally like aim better.. but i do love icq because it logs everything. :)

I prefer AIM but everyone in adult uses ICQ.

ICQ was purchased by AOL shortly after it was created.

I hate AIM it's a shit.I use trilian and icq,yahoo,msn module on it.

because not all of us arrived in this biz via looking at naked pictures on AOL. ;)

I prefer having ICQ numbers and being able to give those out instead of the silly unique screen names you have to come up with, because everything is taken.

Hmmm partly because everybody started out with icq and partly because AIM is seldom used outside of the USA and this is a worldwide webthing...(AMERICAN online)

Skype is great, but it seems nobody in this business uses it.
