Actually the Vista Voice Recognition is pretty good - if you have a spare gig or 2 of ram.....

I used it for a whole 10 mins before I got sick of it!

last thursday when the UK had the major wind storms I went out on my balcony because my storage bin blew apart and while I was trying to stop flying paint cans hitting my windows the patio door slammed shut on my left hand. I went to the emergency room that night and they told me it was fine but just to take a pain killer. The pain in my middle finger got worse and worse so I went back this morning and made them actually look at it and turns out it has been broken since Thursday.

I haven't used it in years but when I did I couldn't listen to the radio or anything in the background because it kept typing words that it was hearing in the background on tv but not picking up what I was saying to it.

Yea they suck my brother had a broken arm and they told him it was fine he was in pain for two days before they said it was broken

That sucks - Fucking NHS are idiots sometimes!

Its the same everywhere though - When I was in NZ and I smashed my leg up the 911 girl asked me 3 times if I was sure is was broken (I lived in the middle of nowhere) -

Me - "Well I am laying on the bed and when I lift my leg up my foot stays where it is"

Operator - "but how do you know it is broken?"

Me - "Lift your leg up and see what happens to the foot thats attached to it"

Operator - "And it wasn't like this before you fell over?"

Me - "Yes, I am pretty sure that the foot was attached to the leg before the accident...."

Operator - "OK I will send an ambulance - are you in any pain at the moment?"

At this point my language becomes even too much for GFY.....

NHS is usually okay but I should have maybe gone right away rather than waiting until 11pm that night when it was me and a room full of drunks..I don't envy those nurses and can understand not everything getting the full attention it needs. They were fine this time.

on Friday I called my GP office at 8am and after 30 minutes I finally got through for the receptionist to tell me that all that was left was a telephone appointment. She didn't get why I thought having an appointment about a finger over the phone was a bit pointless.

I know how you feel. My hand is just now getting to the point where I can type normally. I broke my hand about the end of November. The worst part about it is that there is really nothing you can do about it. Hope it feels better.

Sorry Sarah.. I hope it heels quickly.. But it could have been much much worse.. lots of people round here were killed in that storm (lake district).

Get well soon...Couldn't you use your fingers differently? I mean, you know, when typing, replace that finger with another, hit the keys with another finger...surely needs some practice but maybe it's worth it...
