Kelly Slater and other pro surfers started using WaveRunners to tow out to where they can catch some huge waves like that one.

That's an awesome ride :thumbsup

Viper2K1 01-21-2007 08:36 PM

I'd be more impressed if he paddled to catch it, have seen bigger waves caught without being towed in. But, that is a big wave, none the less.

VeriSexy 01-21-2007 09:40 PM

corvette 01-21-2007 09:50 PM

It's probably Laird Hamilton, he's pretty insane.

That is from the movie 'step into liquid'. Its from one of the final scenes in the move. Those are superwaves that form in the middle of the ocean off of Cali if I remember correctly. Its all real.

wouldnt the placement/timing have to just be right on with a massive wave like that without towing?

yep, that's why I would be more impressed. I am not say it's not impressive, but before tow-in, back in the days of Tom Carroll, there were some dudes catching big fucking waves (25ft plus) on boards that didn't have foot straps and they were dropping in on them.

corvette 01-21-2007 10:06 PM

amazing...

CyberHustler 01-21-2007 10:20 PM
