Any recommendations on a good SEO book?
I was about to hit the store (Barnes/Noble), and I'm curious if anyone has any suggestions on books for SEO? I know very little about the subject, looking to learn about it, and master it ultimately. :)

He has a book, updates it too, do a search on google for reviews. |
There is so much info online, that im not sure you will find a book that can match the amount of info availible on the SEO boards. There are a few good ebooks floating around, but none of them give you the depth of info you will find doing some good ole online research.
What type of SEO are you looking to do? Are you just looking for the basics to start? |

Just read around various forums, I doubt published books will include useful information.

SEO/SEM Crash Course
Start with the first book and then work your way down to the more advanced stuff:
1. The ABC of SEO by David George 2. http://movielibrary.lynda.com/html/modPage.asp?ID=209 3. Search Engine Marketing, Inc.: Driving Search Traffic to Your Company's Web Site by Mike Moran and Bill Hunt 4. Google's PageRank and Beyond: The Science of Search Engine Rankings by Amy N. Langville and Carl D. Meyer 5. Web Metrics: Proven Methods for Measuring Web Site Success by Jim Sterne 6. Marketing Metrics: 50+ Metrics Every Executive Should Master by Paul W. Farris, Neil T. Bendle, Phillip E. Pfeifer, and David J. Reibstein These books will give you principles and concepts that you can always use but you will need to gather alot of information online. By the times books hit the printer the search engines have made changes to what my be in the books. |
Yes ...I am looking for a good SEO BOOK too...:)

Sinister,
Yeah the basics mainly. A lot of factors light this fire under my ass, but today it really came out when I was contemplating directory structure for a new TGP I'm going to give a shot at growing. I've never SEO'd a site before, so I'm looking to drive as much SEO traffic to the niche pages for example, etc. Wondering if it's best to have a structure like Free/Teen/Porn/Gallery, or FreeTeenPorn/Gallery for example. I'd rather not just poke at 1 factor of SEO, than learn it in its entirety, you know? Everyone else, thanks for the great responses and less-informational posts. ;) |
WebCEO Free SEO Tools & Training

Although I won't suggest a book, I will suggest a free set of SEO tools, that also includes a free web based SEO training course that teaches both how to use the tools and basic SEO principles at the same time. Check it out at WebCEO There is "professional" version of WebCEO that does cost money, and also includes a more advanced version of SEO training, but start with the "freebie" and see if it meets your needs. I started out cold, and it seems to have increased SE traffic to my sites. |
