Why no GFY chat?
 

So, most nights, there comes a time when I get too tired (stupid, listless, etc.) to work. At those times, I often end up on GFY for a couple of hours. Think of all the time we could waste with GFY chat....

because lensman would prefer people to click around, scroll up and down, etc.

got banners at the top of the pages, bottom of the pages, banners on the "you have posted a new message and will be taken to your post" page.

if there is interesting chat in the chat room, then people aren't going to come back in the morning and take a look. once it has happened, its gone.

but people may view a certain thread five or six times... it will still be available in a few weeks time, and people can't post with your username like they can in a chat room.

it is also a noteable thing to be the adult board with the greatest amount of posts rather than the busiest chat room.

its all advertising $$$.

Ah. Nothing like a practical answer to ruin a perfectly "good" idea...

A chat? How about sticking your head in a blender. Hard enough to keep up with the static posts here.

why not just make an unofficial chat on some service like yahoo or aim?
