Silly hosting/traffic question.
What's better:
10mbit line or 3000Gb transfer on a 100mbit line I think the second. Am I right? :helpme |
right, second option

Better? It depends.
If a known fixed cost is what you desire, and traffic is fairly constant, 10mbps unmetered could be better as this billing method it typically less expensive and there will be no overages. If you have sporadic bursts in traffic, the by the gig or 95th percentile type billing options would be better but you are of course subject to overages. |
10Mbit/sec would let you transfer about 3200Gb in a month if it was completely maxed out. In practice you wouldn't want to go above about 50% utilisation which is 1600Gb, and even at that util you may still be hitting your head during peak times. In this case 3000Gb on a 100Mbit/sec port is definitely better.

Why is it bad? |
Check it out, this server is on a 10mbit plan with a 95 percentile

it would've been bad if it were a 10mbit capped line
because at peek times your line would be maxed out slowing down your site. |
i see
okay, thanks for the info |
depends on many factors..
